Amitabh Bachchan and Sarika expected to win National Award

Amitabh Bachchan seems to be rocking post 60 yrs. His recent film KANK sees him in a unique, fun role. And now the actor may have one more reason to celebrate, according to sources Amitabh Bachchan may receive the National Award for Best Actor for his role in Black-movie-review.html> Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Black’ . In the film Amitabh played the role of a teacher who tutors a special blind and deaf student, Rani not only academically but also about life. It is also believed that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Black’ will receive ‘The Best Hindi Feature Film’ award. Earlier too Amitabh has received the National Award for his films Saat Hindustani and Agneepath.
According to sources the National Award for Best Actress will be given to Sarika for the film ‘Parzania’. Sarika played the role of a Parsi mother searching for her missing son after the Gujarat riots of 2002. Sarika the ex-wife of actor Kamal Hassan is making a re-entry into films post her divorce. The National Award for the Best Director has also been bagged by director of ‘Parzania’, US based filmmaker Rahul Dholakia. The National Award for Best Film will likely be for Buddhadev Dasgupta’s Bengali film ‘Kalpurush’. The Awards ceremony has not been held and neither have the candidates been announced officially. However the awards which were to be announced this week have now been postponed to a later date.

The National Awards Jury is headed by old-time actress Saroja B Devi and other national awards include, National Award for Best Supporting Actor Naseeruddin Shah for Iqbal. A Special Jury Award has been introduced and will be given to Anupam Kher for his portrayal of a mentally and emotionally wounded old man in ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara’. The film ’15 Park Avenue’ has also reportedly won the Best English Language Film starring Konkana Sen Sharma and Shabana Azmi as the main protagonists.
