Ali Bhatt to replace Kareena Kapoor in ‘Golmaal 4’?

The makers of comedy franchise ‘Golmaal’ have dropped Kareena Kapoor from the fourth instalment of the series due to her pregnancy. Kareena, who was a part of ‘Golmaal Returns’ and ‘Golmaal 3’, is likely to be replaced by Alia Bhatt, reports suggest.

Director Rohit Shetty has already begun working of the fourth instalment of the franchise titled ‘Golmaal Again’. The film which is in its scripting stage, will go on floors later this year and hit theatres on Diwali, 2017. The film’s spokesperson made the announcement in a statement during the 10th year celebration of 'Golmaal' on Thursday, July 14.

According to reports, the filmmakers didn’t want to drop Kareena and had even planned to shift the schedule to shoot the Kareena’s portions before her baby bump begins to show. However, things seem to have changed now.

Apparently, Alia has been shortlisted to play the role which was originally meant for Kareena. A source close to Rohit Shetty has also confirmed that the director even spoke to the ‘Highway’ actress about it.

'Golmaal' series stars Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor as the main leads.

Earlier, reports also claimed that Kareena has been replaced by Sonakshi Sinha for a period film on Rani Ratnavati of Bhangarh.

Meanwhile, Kareena will be shooting for Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor’s co-production ‘Veera Di Wedding’ next month. The movie also stars Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania and will be directed by Shahsank Ghosh.

Kareena is in her second trimester and will go on maternity leave after September. Kareena is expecting her first child with husband Saif Ali Khan in December.
