Akshay Kumar to play Dara Singh

After Farhan Akhtar portrayed the life of athlete Milkha Singh and Priyankya Chopra portrayed the life of boxer Mary Kom, next in the line is Akshay Kumar. The Actor has been approached for portraying the life of wrestler and actor Dara Singh.

Director Rohit Jugraj went to Vindoo, Dara Singh’s son, with a project. According to that project, Akshay Kumar is chosen to play the role of Dara Singh.

Vindoo confirmed the news and said, “Yes, Rohit Jugraj has approached me to make a film on my father’s life. Akshay is the one chosen to play my father in this project. However, he would need time to bulk up. Also, all these things (cricket betting scam) happened  and I didn’t  want to embarrass Akshay by connecting with him on this at a time when the media was hounding me.”

Vindoo was accused in spot fixing scam in IPL (Indian Premier League). He also spent close to around a fortnight in jail. Later, the charges against him were lifted.

Another biographical movie on the life of Dara Singh is also in talks. The movie is in Punjabi. Vindoo confirmed that as well. He said, “Yes, I’ve been approached by the producers  of ‘Jatt & Juliet’ with a Punjabi film where they want Sangram Singh to play my dad. Let’s see which one materialises first.”

Akshay Kumar was born as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on September 9th, 1967, in Amritsar, Punjab. Apart from being an actor, Akshay Kumar is also a producer. In 2009, he founded Hari Om Entertainment Production Company. He has also been awarded with ‘Padma Shri’ for his contribution to Indian cinema.
