Akshay Kumar gets a female voice in a song
Man disguised as woman or woman in men’s attire is nothing new in Bollywood. But it looks like ‘Bollywood Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar wanted to go a step further. The superstar has now lip synced to a female voice in the song ‘Johnny Johnny’ from his upcoming film, ‘Its Entertainment’. The film marks the directorial debut of successful Bollywood writer duo, Sajid-Farhad and it was their decision to give the action star a female voice in the song.
The voice of Akshay Kumar in the song is that of playback singer Priya Panchaal. Jigar Saraiya and Madhav Krishnan have also lent their voices to the song. Akshay will be seen singing some crazy lines like "Haanji main peela di gayi" and "Maine pe nahiii." The song is based on the popular nursery rhyme ‘Johnny Johnny’ and shares the same title. Its groovy music and funky video has become popular. The director duo explained their decision by saying, "Our song is light-hearted, in high spirits and everyone is in a party mood. In a small subtle way, we are showing our support for women empowerment...the lines are matching very well with Akshay's attire and the mood of the song." The film’s soundtrack has been composed by the duo of Sachin- Jigar. This is the first time the duo will be making music for an Akshay Kumar film.
‘Its Entertainment’ is comedy that revolves around a dog named entertainment. The female lead opposite Akshay will be played by Bollywood newcomer Tamannaah Bhatia who has already established herself as a star in South Indian films. On her role of a TV actress in the film, Tamannaah said, “The film is very funny in its space and playing a television serial actress in a movie meant being all the more dramatic. It’s a very interesting, perfectly etched out character and was fun to play.”
Both Akshay and Tamannaah became very fond of the dog that
plays a key role in the film. After the shooting was over Tamannaah got herself
a pet dog named Pebbles. The film has
seen some controversy as well. The makers alleged that some fraudsters were
inviting people to join a fake music launch party for the chance of dancing
with Akshay Kumar. Producer Ramesh Taurani had said that it was “being done by
some mischief-makers." The films also stars Prakash Raj and Mithun
Chakraborty and will be released on the 8th of August.
