Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan team up for ‘Housefull 3’
Apparently this will be Sajid –Farhad’s second directorial venture, their first film, ‘It’s Entertainment’, scheduled to release on August 15 this year.
Also a source was quoted in the daily as saying, “The ‘Housefull’ franchise is a promising one in the masala entertainment space. ‘Housefull 2’ is in the 100-crore club. Sajid plans to keep it going till the time he is able to rope in exciting actor combinations. Also as long as he is able to find entertaining scripts.”
Earlier, Akshay Kumar had starred in the first two parts of the ‘Housefull’ franchise. And reportedly this time Abhishek Bachchan will be joining the star in the film, the two were last seen together in the 2002 movie ‘Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya’.
It would be interesting to watch both Akshay and Abhishek in a comedy film.
Reportedly, Sajid was not available for comments.
The first ‘Housefull’ was released in 2010 which was directed by Sajid Khan, starring Akshay Kumar as the protagonist and Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta along with late Jiah Khan in the female leads. Arjun Rampal, Ritesh Deshmukh and Boman Irani played important roles in the film, while Malaika Arora Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez made special appearances. The movie was hit at the box-office despite getting negative reviews.
‘Housefull 2’ known as ‘Housefull 2: The Dirty Dozen’ was released in 2012 again directed by Sajid Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and once more featured Akshay Kumar.
In ‘Housefull 2’ Akshay was accompanied by Asin Thottumkal, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles, while, Ritesh Deshmuk, Shreyas Talpade, Zarine Khan, Shazahn Padamsee, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and Boman Irani played supporting roles. The movie received mixed reviews, but became a box-office hit with a worldwide gross of Rs 186 crore.
Superstar Akshay Kumar has entertained audiences in over 125 movies, including comedy films such as ‘Hera Pheri’ in 2000, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ in 2004, ‘Garam Masala’ in 2005, ‘Bhagam Bhag’ in 2006, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ in 2007, and ‘Singh Is Kinng’ in 2008, which earned him a lot of praises.
Abhishek made his acting debut in the film ‘Refugee’ in 2000. He received a National Award as producer for the movie ‘Paa’.
