Aishwarya Rai injured on the sets of Mani Ratnam’s Guru
Aishwarya Rai had a minor accident while shooting on the sets of Mani Ratnam’s film ‘Guru’. The actress was shooting at Badami in Karnataka’s Bagalkote district. Aishwarya was riding a bicycle when the chain got stuck and the actress was thrown off the bicycle. Fortunately, the actress did not receive any serious injuries.
The actress’s secretary, Hari Singh says, “Aishwarya had a minor accident, the skin on her fingers started peeling off and it started bleeding profusely and she also has a few minor abrasions on her arms and legs. But she has received treatment and has been advised to rest for a day.” Co-star Abhishek Bachchan along with director Mani Ratnam rushed to her side and were quite concerned about the actress. The actress has been shooting for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Guru’ in which she plays the lead role opposite Abhishek Bachchan. ‘Guru’ is said to be a historical film set against the backdrop of India’s struggle for independence.
In the film ‘Guru’ along with Abhishek and Madhavan, now the third lead of the film will be played by Arrya Babbar. Arrya is the son of veteran actor Raj Babbar, who made his debut in Raj Kanwar’s ‘Ab Ke Baras’ opposite Amrita Rao. Arrya will play Ash’s brother and also Abhi’s best friend in the film. The lad seems pretty excited about his role and says, “It’s a challenging role and more than anything else it’s an honour to work with Mani Sir. To be recognized by someone like Mani Sir and being cast in his film is no small achievement.” Arrya also claims that he did not bag this prestigious role through any contacts, instead auditioned for the role and got it.
Arrya has just completed shooting for a Hollywood film titled, ‘The Partition’. He portrays a negative role in this film, which looks at the partition of India in 1947. His co-stars for this film were Neve Campbell and Jimi Mistry.
Aishwarya Rai’s Hollywood film Mistress of Spices is set to release on April 28. However, the actress seems to be having a change of heart towards the film. According to sources in spite of having time on her hands before her shootings began, she did not bother to promote the film. According to sources, “Aishwarya is distancing herself from the project because she is embarrassed by some intimate scenes she shot for the film. Ash had no problems when she shot for those bold scenes, but when she saw the final draft, she put her foot down.” The co-producer of the film, Deepak Nayar, was forced to oblige the actress and delete some of the scenes at her behest.
Sources claim that the reason for Ash’s sudden change of heart is the presence of beau Abhishek in her life. However, director, Paul claims that Ash is doing the publicity of the film to whatever extent, she can and that there are no problems. Also, Ash’s secretary says, “Aishwarya has done enough publicity abroad, while the film was being shot. As for doing publicity in India, she did not receive any intimation from the producers or the exhibitors. Besides she had other commitments when she was in Mumbai.”
Well, Ash sure needs to learn to be more professional, be it in Hollywood or Bollywood.
