Aishwarya misses to walk the red carpet at Cannes
Due to an air traffic controllers' strike in France, former beauty queen and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had missed out to make Cannes appearance. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was scheduled to walk the Cannes red carpet on May 16 but she lost the chance due to unavoidable situation.
On Wednesday, Ash left for Cannes with daughter Aaradhya Bachchan and mother Vrinda Rai but stuck in London due to an airline strike. Aishwarya was to represent global cosmetics brand L'Oréal Paris at the annual gala.
"Aishwarya was supposed to reach France today and walk the red carpet, but due to a strike by Air France, she hasn’t been able to fly out of London. There is no clarity as of now about when she will reach Cannes. She had to walk the red carpet on May 16 and 17, but it looks like she may have to do so on other days due to this delay,” says the source.
The L’Oreal Paris team is making arrangements for the diva to walk the red carpet on 21st May.
"Aishwarya's flight from London to Nice was delayed and hence she hasn't been able to reach Cannes as planned. With the latest development, the L'Oréal Paris team is making arrangements for Aishwarya to walk the red carpet on an alternate day," said a statement.
"While the delay has been unfortunate, we are making sure that Aishwarya attends the event on an alternate date and we are sure she will dazzle as always," said Manashi Guha, general manager, L'Oréal Paris India.
Aishwarya made her Cannes debut in 2002 along with Shahrukh Khan for ‘Devdas’ and ever since she has been regular at the festival. Ash was invited for the fest for the last13 years due to her long association with the international cosmetic brand L’Oreal Paris.
Last year Ash accompanied her daughter Aaradhya to Cannes and this year too the little one joined her mother. Abhishek Bachchan is expected to join his dearest wife on May 22 and the couple will jointly attend the amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research) dinner together.
