Aishwarya heading to Cannes with father-in-law Amitabh

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been regular at Cannes for a decade. This year Cannes will also celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema and they will invite some Bollywood personalities from India to celebrate this great achievement. Aishwarya’s connection to Cannes is long back. She was also conferred upon a civilian award by the French government for her contribution to the arts during her last birthday. This year Cannes visit will be different as her father-in-law and megastar Amitabh Bachchan will accompany her.

This May at Cannes film festival, Amitabh Bachchan will represent his first Hollywood film "The Great Gatsby". The guest list does not end here, South superstar Rajinikanth will also be invited for unveiling the trailer of his new film "Kochadaiyaan" at the fest.

French Ambassador to India Francois Richier told reporters that Aishwarya is always respected in France; she has been the brand ambassador of French cosmetic brand for a long time. He added Aishwarya had a long association with the Cannes film festival.

"She is very dear to our heart and we are very grateful to her," said Richier. "The Cannes festival will have a special focus on Indian Cinema where we will invite Indian film stars," the Ambassador said.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been the brand ambassador of cosmetic brand L’Oreal Paris for long years.

Last year, Aishwarya headed to Cannes with her daughter Aaradhya.

Murli Manohar, co-producer of the southern film, confirmed Rajinikanth's presence in Cannes with Big B.

"It's a big moment in the history of Indian cinema. Rajiniji is as excited as a child about the way 'Kochadaiyaan' has turned out. Technique-wise it takes Indian cinema to another level altogether. Rajiniji has shown the rough cut of the film to his close friends. The other day, A.R. Rahman saw the rough cut and was blown away," said Manohar.

Doctors barred Rajini to travel long distance but the superstar is not ready to let the opportunity go and he cited the example of Big B who fought back against his illness and going long way.

A source close to the project said: "He is adamant on going. He has become extremely frail. But whenever anyone mentions his delicate health to Rajiniji, he gives the example of Mr.Bachchan, who has braved the most serious illnesses and done exactly what he wanted and gone exactly where he wanted in his career."
