Aishwarya will be a special guest at Cannes film festival

The darling of the Indian cinema, Aishwariya Rai Bachchan will receive special invitation to the Cannes Film Festival which is to be held later this year.

Aishwarya with her stunning looks and her persona as the Miss Universe had always remained a popular figure in France. Her connection to the French dates from the time when she began to endorse a French cosmetic brand. France has honored this lovely actress. During her birthday last year, Aishwariya received a civilian award from the Government of France. The award was given in recognition of her various contributions to the arts.

This year, the Indian cinema is going to be a focus of considerable attraction. This is because the Cannes Film Festival this year celebrates the 100 years of Indian cinema. The Festival is all set to realize the vast contribution that Indian films had made in the last century. So, this Film Festival is definitely a big event in the context of Indian films. As most the Glitterati are getting ready for the visit to the gala affair, a special invitation has been extended to Aishwariya Rai Bacchan on behalf of the French Government.

In an interview, Francois Richier, the French ambassador to India said that Aishwariya has always held a special place in France mostly because of her long term association with the Cannes Film Festival. "She is very dear to our heart and we are very grateful to her," said Richier.

In recognition of 100 years of Indian cinema, several important figures of the Indian film industry are scheduled to get specially invited to the Cannes Film Festival this year. "The Cannes festival will have a special focus on Indian Cinema where we will invite Indian film stars," confirmed the ambassador. Aishwariya is to be one of them who receive a special invitation to France on this occasion.

In an exclusive interview, a spokesperson for Aishwariya confirmed that she will be attending the Film Festival which is at its sixty sixth year this season. This will mark the twelfth consecutive appearance of the actress at this affair.

Several other prominent Indian stars are expected to be at the festival which is slated to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema. These include Amitabh Bachchan whose film “The Great Gatsby” directed by Buz Luhrman is being released here. Superstar Rajnikanth is also expected to make an appearance despite his ill health at the launch of the trailer of his film “Kochadaiyaan”.
