After 33 years, Amitabh Bachchan met Rekha with love
It is a rare moment when the megastar of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan, the next door actress Jaya Bachchan and evergreen Rekha meet and greet each other by dumping the past issues. Let bygones be bygones, at the Screen Awards Amitabh Bachchan after 33 years shared a smile and joined hand and said Namaste to the actress whom he was rumoured to have dated at one point of time. Clad in silk saree and decked in heavy jewellery, both the beauties, Jaya and Rekha looked very cordial.
Rekha not only shared pleasantries with Big B but she also held Jaya’s hand and had a chat. Amitabh and Rekha were last clicked in a flight but they totally ignored each other. In those years, Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan met several times during numerous events but never smiled at each other or greeted. After so long years, almost after 33 years since they deliver their last hit together, ‘Silsila’, Big B met with Rekha so lovingly.
They recently bumped into each other at Vishesh Bhatt’s wedding reception but they did not exchange pleasantries.
Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan’s mystery love story always keep the gossip mill churning. The two first acted in hit movies like `Do Anjaane` (1976), and went on to deliver hits like `Muqaddar Ka Sikander` (1978), `Mr Natwarlal` (1979), `Suhaag` (1979), `Silsila` (1981) and few more. Their chemistry was always talked about. They are considered a sizzling on-screen pair of the past.
Grapevine also buzzed that married Big B used to meet Rekha at her bungalow while shooting ‘Alaap’ after three years of marriage. Their romance bloomed over the years and acted in many hit movies and started to spend time with each other. Their proximity hurt Jaya and she revolted and made it clear to Rekha that she won’t be able to take her place, never.Their dramatic romance ended with YRF’s film, ‘Silsila’ in 1980. Since then Big B and Rekha never talked to each other and two years down the line when Amitabh meted with an accident on the set of‘Coolie’, Jaya and Big B’s relationship gripped.
