Afsana, sister of actor Aftab Shivdasani, married Amit on December 29, in Mumbai. Son of Air India’s commercial director, Vishwakumar Verma, Amit, who is a Punjabi, has been seeing Afsana, of Sindhi-Parsi parentage, since 14 years!

...The Taj Mahal Palace, was a classy affair with a mix of film and aviation industry people as also top industrialists like Pradeep Dhoot. Aftab’s girlfriend, Shamita Shetty, came quite early while her family including sister Shilpa Shetty and parents followed.

Both the Shetty sisters looked chic in sarees (definitely not Prafull sarees) and ma Shetty sparkled more than both her daughters put together, what with shining diamonds and a matching black saree. Aftab played perfect host not just to the Shetty clan but to all the guests.
When teased about the special attention he was showering on Shilpa and her mom, Aftab blushed, “They are my guests and courtesy demands that I look after them.” Sure! His ‘looking after’ included asking the DJ to play Shamita Shetty’s disco number Sharara Sharara when youngsters in the party decided to dance and have a good time.
Designer Anna Singh with hubby Jaiveer, producers Ashok Thakeria, Indra Kumar, CM Sushil Kumar Shinde and Babloo Pachisia, and Aftab’s co-star Preeti Jhangiani were the other film people who came to wish Aftab’s sister.
Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty, Aftab’s other co-stars of Awara Paagal Deewana, could not attend the reception as they were out of station. Vikram Bhatt, who made Kasoor and Footpath with Aftab, was laid up in bed with a back problem and, therefore, could not make it.
Of course, nobody expected Ramgopal Varma, who had introduced Aftab in Mast, to be around. He never attends functions like weddings, it seems!
