Actor-director Joy Mukherjee's condition critical


Veteran actor and director Joy Mukherjee’s condition is critical and he is admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. He has been put on ventilation.

Born on 24th Feb 1939, Joy Mukherjee debuted with hit film, Love In Shimla in 1960. When one heard the track ‘Bade Miyan Deewane’, the lean, thin and tall height handsome Joy Mukherjee comes in picture. He has many hit films under his credit which includes Shagird, Love In Tokyo, Bahu Beti, iddi, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, Ek Musafir Ek Hasina, Puraskar, Ishaara, Hum Hindustani and Chailla Babu.

"He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital at around 10:30 a.m. He has not been keeping well for quite some time," the 73-year-old's spokesperson, R.R.Pathak, said.

"His wife Neelam Mukherjee too distraught at the moment," he added.

The paternal uncle of actors Kajol and Tanisha, Joy Mukherjee also directed movies like ‘Love in Bombay’ (1974), ‘Chhaila Babu’ (1977), ‘Saanjh Ki Bela’ (1981) and ‘Umeed’ (1989).
