Abhishek Bachchan steps into dad Big B's shoes

Abhishek Bachchan has always been compared to his illustrious father Amitabh Bachchan. Big B is the legend of Bollywood and is incomparable to any actor of the industry from the past and present. No wonder that hopes are very big from the Bachchan Junior. Abhishek has so far very diplomatically evaded all comparisons and steered clear of standing in the shadows of Amitabh.

In the recent years Bollywood have started experimenting with remakes of the old hits. Two remakes of the old Big B films have already become mega hits in the box office. First it was Shahrukh Khan who donned the role of the Don in the movie ‘Don’ and then Hrithik Roshan played the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in the remake of ‘Agneepath’.

Leave alone Bollywood, it is the entire nation that wished to see Abhishek Bachchan playing out the role of his legendary father. Abhishek was flooded with offers for such remakes but he refused them. Abhishek always felt that characters immortalized by Amitabh Bachchan can’t be properly played by anyone, including him.

Therefore, the news came as a surprise when Abhishek agreed to step into the shoes of his father in the remake of the block blaster movie from the 1980s, ‘Do aur do paanch’. Producer and director Kunal Kohli is making the film and he was insistent on having none other but the Bachchan Jr. to play the role of the Bachchan senior.

Kunal Kohli it seems convinced Abhishek Bachchan that the central role in the movie ‘Do aur do paanch’ requires an actor who can do comedy, effortlessly. Recently Abhishek did the movie ‘Bol Bachchan’ which established him as a good comedian. His timings and dialogue throwing along with the expressions were impeccable and earned him the praise from the critics. Besides, Abhishek too loves doing a comedy role.

In the original comedy movie the roles of the two conmen were enacted by Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor. In the remake we are to see Boby Deol along with Abhishek, as per the grapevines. A debutant director, Akshaye Puri is supposed to direct the comic flick.

Kunal Kohli is not ready to reveal more about the project as he states that this is too early to speak about it and he will let the world know all the details only after all the star cast is finalized.
