Aamir's 'Dhoom 3' set to break SRK's record in Tamil Nadu
Every year, the perfectionist actor of Bollywood, Aamir Khan delivers a Christmas release which rocks the country and casts all the other films released throughout the year into shade. The actor is all set to repeat this feat again at Christmas this year with the release of his mega budget film, Dhoom 3. The two prequels of the film had done extremely well at the box office. Abhishek Bachchan and the super sexy Katrina Kaif will be appearing in the film along with Aamir. As the first looks have already been released, the country is waiting with bated breaths for the next blockbuster from Aamir Khan.
Nowhere is the fever of anticipation higher than in Tamil Nadu. The Tamil dubbed version of Dhoom 3 has already generated a lot of interest and critics are predicting that the film will easy surpass the recent Salman and Shah Rukh Khan films released in the state. Sathyam Cinemas have acquired the Tamil and Hindi rights of the film. While the Hindi version will mostly be shown in the multiplexes of Chennai, the film is set to be released in more than 150 screens across the state. According to one estimate, the number of screens may easily cross 200. This is certainly larger than any number of screens where films of Salman or Shah Rukh Khan had been released.
A film trader said, "Dhoom 3 has been making a positive noise from the day one. The bug has even bitten Tamil audience. The success of its earlier versions have made people to eagerly await the release of the movie. As the talks are good, distributors are leaving no stone unturned to cash in on the occasion." He added, "Dhoom 3 dubbed Tamil version is expected to get a better reception than any other Hindi movies in the recent years. Thanks to the trailer and the promotional materials of the film which have generated a huge curiosity in the minds of audience."
Dhoom 3 is facing stiff competition from several local movies in the state. The most notable is Karthi’s Biryani which is directed by Venkat Prabhu and supposed to be the biggest Christmas release in the state. Apart from this, Endrendrum Punnagai by Jeeva and Trisha Krishnan and a few other medium budget films are also set to offer competition. In spite of this, traders are predicting a golden run at the box office for Dhoom 3 in Tamil Nadu.
