Aamir, Rekha to receive Raj Kapoor Award

Aamir Khan and Rekha will be felicitated with this year’s Raj Kapoor award. The honor comprises price money of Rs 2 Lakhs, citation and a memento cash. The award will be presented to them at the Maharashtra State Awards ceremony to be held at the Balewadi stadium in the city on May 30.
 
Rekha and Aamir Khan will be honored with Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award for their contribution to Indian cinema. "We have spoken to all of them and they have accepted the awards while promising to be present at the presentation ceremony," minister of state for cultural affairs Harshvardhan Patil said.

Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Shamshad Begum and music director Pt Hridaynath Mangeshkar are also decided for the award. "We are awaiting their confirmation. We have also decided to felicitate the stars of the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire' and so have also invited music director A R Rahman for the same," Ajay Ambekar, director of the state department of culture, said.
