Aamir loses Oscar race
Aamir Khan's directional debut Taare Zameen Par could not make to the Oscar. It has made a return journey at the initial stage. Regardless of having a bold theme, the film failed to impress the jury. The film could not manage to get nomination for the nine films short-listed in the foreign language film category. In 2001, Aamir's Lagaan brought pride to the Indian cinema by making an official entry to Oscar.
Nine films have been selected from 65 numbers and now the next round of voting and selection will be done among those nine. The selection committee In New York and Los Angeles will pick up five nominees from those nine films and will make a final announcement on 22nd February. Though Aamir was little disappointed for Taare Zameen Par not able to make to the Academy Awards, he was not heart broken. He is rather happy that the Indian audience liked the film.
He remarked, "Well, I suppose the Academy jury liked nine other films more. I am just happy that it is a film which is very special to me and to all audiences of Indian cinema. I would like to thank everyone for their unwavering support to the film". Written by Amol Gupte, Taare Zameen Par speaks about a child suffering from dyslexia.
