Aamir Khan was issued a legal notice by Gujarat Forest Department

After Salman Khan and his various cases related to chinkaras, it’s now the turn of another bollywood star to get embroiled in a chinkara case. Aamir Khan has gotten himself into trouble with the law after it was brought to notice that he had filmed a chinkara in Gujarat without permission from the concerned authorities. Aamir has been issued a legal notice by the Gujarat Forest Department as he did not have permission to shoot the endangered chinkara for his film ‘Lagaan’.
A spokesperson from the forest department said “We have issued a notice to Aamir seeking details about the use of the animal. How did he manage to shoot the animal for his film even when he was denied permission to shoot the chinkara by the forest department?” The chinkara was filmed in Jam Kunaria village on the border of Kutch for Aamir’s home production Lagaan in which he has also acted in the year 2000. An enquiry was carried out as to how Aamir had shot the chinkara in his film despite the fact that he was not given permission by the forest department to shoot the endangered species.

‘Lagaan’ was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and Aamir’s current wife, Kiran Rao was the assistant director. The executive producer of the film was Aamir’s former wife Reena. The forest officials are currently waiting for Aamir’s reply to their notice and have given him seven days to do so. They have also conducted an enquiry in the village where the chinkara was filmed and a forest guard also admitted to allowing the ‘Lagaan’ cast and crew to film the chinkara. Earlier too the matter had come up, but later the forest officials closed the matter. Recently the case was once again re-opened after an environmental group registered a complaint against Aamir and his team. The case was re-opened after bollywood superstar Salman Khan received a severe punishment of five years rigorous imprisonment for killing an endangered chinkara in Jaipur.

Aamir will soon be seen in Mani Ratnam’s film Lajjo alongside Kareena Kapoor . Recently Aamir was in a controversy for supporting the people who were displaced due to the Narmada dam in Gujarat. His support cost him dearly as his films including his recent film Fanaa was banned in Gujarat .
