Aamir Khan to shoot ‘Dangal’ in Dharmendra’s village

Aamir Khan is currently in Ludhiana, Punjab shooting for his upcoming film, ‘Dangal’, a biopic based on wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. The actor who is shooting in Ludhiana for the past weeks will now head to another village called Dango, for the next shooting schedule.

Interestingly, this village, which is in the Pakhowal Tehsil in Ludhiana, is veteran actor Dharmendra’s ancestral village.

“When Aamir learnt that Dango is Dharmendraji’s village, he got so excited that he called him up immediately, and told him about it,” says an insider.

Apparently, Dharmendra, too, was quite excited to learn that  Aamir will be shooting in his village Dango, and he wished him all the best for the rest of the shoot. “They chatted about the film at length. In fact, Aamir has promised Dharamji that he will organise a special screening for him as soon as the film is ready,” says the source.

Aamir Khan, who has gained enormous weight for ‘Dangal’ has invited Mahesh Bhatt’s son Rahul Bhatt to train him. A source says, “He knows Rahul from the time he (Rahul) was a child hanging around on his dad Mahesh Bhatt Saab’s set of Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin. Rahul grew up to be one of the finest physical trainers in Mumbai. So when Aamir needed to develop two distinct body types for his wrestler’s character, he immediately thought of Rahul.

After getting a call from Aamir, Rahul immediately flew off to Ludhiana and is stationed along with Aamir Khan in the Radisson hotel, Says the source, “Aamir trains with Rahul for approximately 90 minutes every day. It is very intense training. The rigorous exercises involve Myofibril-based strength work-outs. Aamir Khan is first training with Rahul for his bulky look when his character is 45-years old. Then later he needs to train to look 25. For both the looks, Rahul Bhatt has worked out a very strict and focused exercise regime for Aamir.”
