Aamir Khan meets PM Modi to discuss social issues

It is said that time heals everything. Aamir Khan once faced protests in Narendra Modi led Gujarat for his opposition to the Gujarat government’s decision to increase the height of the Narmada dam. There was even a partial ban on his film ‘Fanaa’. But all of that seemed a thing of the past when yesterday Aamir Khan met Narendra Modi who is now the prime minister of the nation. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s office in South Block at Raisina Hills. The PMO later described the meeting as a courtesy call.

As per sources, Aamir discussed several social issues with the PM and he also carried a DVD box-set of his reality show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ which he gifted to the PM. While Narendra Modi shared photos of the meeting on social networking sites, Aamir described the meeting in a series of posts on Twitter. The actor said that the Prime Minister has assured him to look into the matters raised by him.

Aamir said, “Just came out of my meeting with Honorable Prime Minister of India Shree Narendra Modiji. Was very kind of him to spare his valuable time.”  Later in a series of tweets the actor said, “Shared with him the overwhelming support that we got from people across the country through ‘Vote for Change’ campaign on SMJ (Satyamev Jayate) on the various issues that we tackled in our show. He has assured me that he will look into all the matters.”  Before the elections Bollywood was seemingly divided in pro-Modi and anti-Modi voices. However, at that time Aamir kept quiet as he was asked by the Election Commission to spread awareness about voting. Recently on June 16th at a program in Bhopal, Aamir gave his views for the first time since the elections.

He said, "Modi Saheb has talked of benefiting people, especially the poor and bringing happiness to their lives. We should be cooperative with him so that he achieves his goal. People and I have great expectation from Modi Saheb." Very few top Bollywood stars are as active as Aamir on the social front.

Before the Lok Sava elections Aamir also held a special episode on his show ‘Satyamev Jayate’. The ‘Vote for Change’ episode, talked about the issue of criminalization of politics in India. With this episode,    the voters were asked to cast their votes thoughtfully so that a difference can be made.
