Aamir Khan in Bombay Talkies
‘Bombay Talkies’, is a film celebrating the 100 glorious years of Indian Cinema. It is a four episode film which is being directed by Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar.
It was being reported that Aamir Khan was being roped in for a special extra segment, however that is not true. Aamir Khan will be a part of the special theme song to honor 100 years of Indian Cinema.
After a year of thinking over the project, Aamir Khan finally gave his nod to appear in the film. Given his contribution to the Indian Cinema, the makers were keen to have him play some part in the film. In the song, he will feature with various other stars. He has already completed his bit of shooting. Aamir Khan is also playing the negative lead for the first time in his upcoming film, ‘Dhoom 3’ with Katrina Kaif. He is also looking forward to Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Peekay’.
A source close to the project was heard saying, “The film's shooting is done. Four directors had been assigned to do four episodes. Where is the scope for Aamir to do another segment? That is completely wrong reporting. Aamir has only participated in a song in Bombay Talkies composed by Amit Trivedi celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema.”
Karan Johar’s film stars Rani Mukerji, Randeep Hooda and Saqib Saleem. Dibakar Banerjee’s film stars nawazzudin Siddiqui and Sadashiv Amrapukar. Zoya Akhtar is directing Ranvir Shorey and Katrina Kaif. Anurag Kashyap has roped in Amitabh Bachchan for his segment.
The producer quipped, “We will not use stars to promote the film. We will use the four directors for promotions. They are the face of this film. We will reach out to print, electronic media, have events, etc. It is true that the industry is star driven and will remain so. But this is one step on our part to promote the film in the name of directors. The star driven phenomenon will continue to exist in the industry. But we also want audience to watch a film entirely because of the content it has and the director who has made it and not because of a star alone.”
It was being speculated that Ranbir Kapoor would play the role of the ‘Sutradhaar’; however, nothing has been confirmed on that front. The film is produced by Ashi Dua and is expected to release on the 3rd May 2013.
