Aamir, Akshay, Priyanka in Jayant Gilatar's film
It is not an easy task being a star. Taxing schedules, taxing roles, taxing challenges all along. But what makes it interesting is when the same stars come together to infuse the spirit in the public to pay their income tax on time. Noted filmmaker Jayant Gilatar has managed a casting coup for a film, with a galaxy of stars like Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Om Puri and Adi Godrej and finance minister Pranab Mukherjee himself. The short film, however, is not a commercial flick but made for the Government of India. It has the superstars appealing fervently to people to pay their income tax and help the nation develop into a modern country.
Actor Ashish ‘LSD’ Sharma hosted a surprise party for Jayant to celebrate the completion of this Public Service film. Other than Ashish, Richa Sony, Rufe Khan, Naazneen Batliwalla, singers Madhushree and Sufi singer Sahil Multy Khan, models Arif Khan and Sheena Chohan, stylist-designer Umair Zafar, artist Rashmi Pitre, among others came and shared the moment with Jayant Gilatar.
Says Gilatar, “Every citizen of Indiashould be proud to be a taxpayer. I want this documentary to be an inspiration for others to pay their tax on time, and no one can put it better than their role models when it comes to this. I hope our documentary makes a difference in the mindset of the masses.”
Jayant Gilatar has just completed his latest flick Sadarakshanay, which revolves around the life and challenges faced by a woman police officer in the city. As a director, the current projects that Gilatar is helming include, 24 Hrs Gupchup starring Anuj Sawhney, Om Puri, Ravi Kishen, Suresh Menon and Manoj Joshi and White Land based on a true story about Gujarat’s salt pan workers, which stars Gracy Singh and Seema Biswas, Ashish Choudhary, Mukesh Rishi and Raghuveer Yadav, among others.
