‘2 States’ mints 43.93 crore in the opening weekend
Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer ‘2 States’ based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name starts with a bang and continues to rule the domestic as well as the overseas box-office. Opened with 12.42 crore on Friday, the film collected a whopping amount of 43.93 in the opening weekend. Made on a budget of 45 crores, the film has recovered 85% of the production costing in just three days of its release.
Trade analysts described the movie collection ‘excellent’. The break-up is Fri Rs 12.42 cr, Sat 12.13 cr. Total, Sun 19.41 crore totalling to 43.93 crore in the opening weekend.

‘2 States’ is few numbers behind ‘Gunday’ and ‘Jai Ho’. While ‘Gunday’ occupies the second spot with two days earning of Rs 28.75 cr in India,’ Jai Ho’ rules the charts with Rs 33.80 cr.

Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines, said, "The film is doing very good business at the box office. It has gone beyond expectations. The film has collected close to Rs 12 crore on Friday. It is great and it's almost going housefull in many theatres."
"If the film goes at the same pace, it will certainly create a record for itself," he added.
The movie is running houseful in multiplexes and single theatres. Sanjay Ghai from Mukta Arts said, "The film is going housefull, and that is commendable. Without having any Khans or A-listers, the film has managed to pull maximum crowd.
"The film collected Rs 2.25 crore on Friday from Delhi, and all over India, its business was close to Rs 12 to Rs 13 crore.".
