Zamaanat - Music Review

Service before self is the motto of the 'Zamaanat". Big B is again in limelight but this time it's least heard and delayed project, which took five years to complete. After the big bash of 'Bagbaan' this is like old wine in a new bottle. Unlike 'Bagbaan' the album does not have a single number by Amitabh Bachchan. The film was started when Amitabh was on the comeback spree, but the project got delayed for one reason or the other. 'Zamaanat' is a film by S.Ramanathan. Besides Amitabh Bachchan, Karisma Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Vijayshanti play the lead roles.

The one time sensation Arshad Warsi plays the romantic lead opposite Karisma Kapoor. Vijayshanti, the iron leady of South Indian cinema, who portrayed the character similar to Kiran Bedi's in 'Tejasvini' plays an important role in the film. The story is about the middle aged blind lawyer (Amitabh Bachchan) who tries to defend an innocent man. Recently, director S.Ramanathan shot the climax with Amitabh Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor. S. Ramanathan thought of changing the title of the film to 'Godfather', but decided to stick with 'Zamaanat'. Viju Shah, from the legendary music director Kalyanji Anandji family, gives the music. But the music falls short of time and the magical touch of Viju Shah is missing. Still he has managed to give a couple of well-niched compositions. Lyrics of Sameer are ordinary. Original Soundtrack is on Universal.
