 The name itself resound that it is a comedy flick. Looking back at the past record, one can easily concludes that in comedy less effort is usually made to make the music ear-pleasing. But Ugli Aur Pagli is an exceptional; Pritish Nandy Communication (PNC) has done some stupendous work to beautify the music of Ugly Aur Pagli. He has given the task of composing the music to music composer Anu Malik. Mallika Sherawat has the an earlier record of associating with a mind-blowing music like Murder and PNC’s Pyaar Ke Side Effects with Rahul Bose and this time round also her association is considered to be an x-factor.
The music of Ugly Aur Pagli is made on fast track, have some amount of Latin and Spanish lyrics, resounds pop and some disco flavor is included in it. The tracks are not deviated from the normal but have some attractive rhythm that will appeal one and make him croon and tap his feet as soon as the song plays. Anu Malik has incorporated every new rhythm to make the album pleasant to ear. In Ugli Aur Pagli, there are altogether five tracks and each one is different in terms of composition and style. All the tracks are very fast and perfect disco number. The album mainly aims to the youth generation and the older group would not able to relate with those fast tracks. Here is a gist of the songs- Talli – This song has been crooned by Hard Kaur and Anu Malik’s daughter Anmol Malik. Lyrics have been penned by Amitabh Verma. It is a peppy number and full of youthfulness. It will be liked mostly by disco going guys and listening to it, one would like tapping his feet. Amitabh Verma has inserted English-Punjabi rendition and the lyrics are quite humorous, one would feel like laughing while listening to the song. This song is best suited to sexy Mallika Sherawat’s attitude and mood. Karle Gunaah - Anushka Manchanda and Ishq Bector took hold of the mike. It has a Punjabi cum Hindi remixes. This unique combination results quite fruitful. It would appeal to the youth. The track is average hearing and full of masti is embedded in it. Its high voltage effect would set the dance floor on fire. The video starring the mismatched combination of Ranbir Shorey and Mallika’s is an added attraction of the song. Yeh Nazar – The party mood continues with Yeh Nazar. Anu Malik has given the task to sing this fast and funky number to versatile Sunidhi Chauhan and Mohit Chauhan. Shaan too joins in the mid-way. It is another fast track of the movie filled up with heavy music and joyful lyrics. The song is melodious hearing and it sounds quite appealing in the voice of Sunidhi Chauhan. Shut Up, Aa Nachle – It seems Anu Malik cannot resist his singing temptation and took hold of the mike to croon this yummy number along with Sunidhi Chauhan. Sunidhi rules in Ugli Aur Pagli album. Dibyendu Mukherjee has penned the lyrics and incorporated some Latin rendition. Anu Malik again reminds everyone the days of Garam Chai Ki Piyali Ho and Jungle Hai Adhi Raat Hai. This time he gets little Spanish with this dance number. Yaad Teri Aaye – After too much of loud and high voltage music, everyone requires some amount of tranquility. And thank God, this slow pace number provides one that relief. One of the efficient and highly talented members of silk route Mohit Chauhan who has showed his efficiency in Tumse Hi from ‘Jab We Met’ has crooned this melancholy number. The track is quite melodious and can be graded higher. In a nutshell, the songs of Ugly Aur Pagli are average hearing and do not have that quality to make to the chartbusters. Talli and Yaad Teri Aaye are the glamour of the album. But almost all the songs are of same nature having pub flavor. It is basically made keeping in mind the taste of the modern generation. The songs of Ugli Aur Pagli can be played when one is in a party mood. The album cannot entice one to play life long.
