'Sunday' belongs to the thriller/suspense genre. It stars an interesting cast of Ajay Devgan, Ayesha Takia, Arshad Warsi, Anjana Sukhani, Irrfan Khan etc. The film has been directed by Rohit Shetty. The film revolves around Ayesha Takia who plays a dubbing artiste; unfortunately she unwittingly gets embroiled in a murder plot but cannot remember anything about how she has got herself into this mess. She has now become a murder suspect and is wanted by a number of people including the police. With a fresh storyline and an interesting cast, one surely looks forward to this film. The music for the film has been composed by various artistes like Sandeep Chowta, Suroor, Daler Mehendi, Shibani Kashyap, Raghav Sachar etc. The lyrics have been penned by Sajid, Daler, Farhad etc.
'Missing Sunday'- A song with a unique title sung by Mahua and Suraj with Edgar providing some rap n reggae lines. A song which has lyrics kept to a minimum but with vibrant, groovy and well arranged music. It is an upbeat track with a peppy rhythm. The musical arrangements within the song make it worthy of listening. It has a 'Remix version' which is even livelier and a bit funkier than the original.
'Pyar Toh Hona Hi Hai'- A song with beautiful melody, this one is crooned by Kamran Bari and Mohammed Ali. It has a Pakistani stylised feel about it and the rendition is simply superb. A soft, sweet romantic track that has touching lyrics and soulful music. There is a 'Remix version' for this love song too, and it has some added beats and sounds which sound average. But the original is definitely worth a hearing.
'Loot Liya'- Daler Mehendi and Sunidhi Chauhan croon this fun and vibrant track. It is a peppy song with fast paced beats that keep the pace going. A more youthful song that has a chilled out style and feel. It has a dance rhythm and is entertaining.
'Kashmakash'- An item song that has a sensuous feel and style, it is sung by Shibani Kashyap. A dark, foreboding and dangerous music accompanies the lyrics which also have a mysterious feel. The dark and dangerous feel goes with the suspense/thriller mood and hence the song is more situational. Nonetheless it has an appealing quality to it. There is a 'Remix version' by DJ Suketu which has add on sounds and synchronisation that livens the mood of the song.
'Manzar'- This is an innovative track sung by Raghav Sachar which has a great blend of western and Indian sounds and tunes. The lyrics are fresh and the beats are average and the rhythm is catchy. A feisty and fresh number that has all it takes to move up the charts.
'Sunday Theme'- This amalgamation of various tunes make it a pleasant number with Joy and Clint lending their voices for this English number. It has an oriental/Asian tune that stands out as well as a bhangra tune incorporated effortlessly with disturbing the groovy pace and beats of the song. A stylish, techno savvy, urban tune that is engaging.
The Sunday music album offers a variety of tunes and music, a love song, a peppy fun number, a techno savvy number, a dark number etc. It has different songs for different moods and all the numbers sound good. A good album in totality but it could have been promoted in a better manner. Not many are aware of the diversity of the album. A fresh and nice album.
