Singh Is Kinng - Music Review

Singh Is Kinng has many trivia attached to it. Firstly, it is Akshay Kumar and Vipul Shah’s combination flick which has produced films like Aankhen, Waqt and Namastey London and the music of which is being crooned very often. Secondly, Pritam Chakraborty is an important angle; he has scored high in recent times with Race and Jannat. Akshay-Katrina starrer usually has a soulful and thrilling music which is also attached to this album. In the recent period, Akshay Kumar connects to some hit numbers like Heyy Babyy, Namastey London and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. All this and some other factors raise expectation among the cine-goers about Singh Is Kinng album.

With all big names connected to it, today Singh Is Kinng is the talk of the town. The album has altogether six songs and it has all the flavor of rap, Punjabi folk, noisy, fast paced and pop. Vipul Shah has chosen Pritam to frame the music of Singh Is Kinng by looking at his recent chartbusters. Like any other music of today, Singh Is Kinng is also a blend of western and Indian music. Here is a gist of the songs.

Singh Is Kinng – The title song of the film is Snoop Dogg’s version. It is a RDB track composed by Calvin Broadus with Surjeet Singh, Manjeet Ral and Kuljeet Ral. When the music will synchronize with the video then its intensity will increase enormously because Akshay Kumar will be at the backdrop dancing to this exciting jovial number with perfect Punjabi attire and turban. It is pleasant hearing and has the momentum to drive forces.

Jee Karda - Singer Suzie.Q has opened the album with English version and it is carried forward by versatile singer Labh Jan Jua. It has a Punjabi essence and undoubtedly, picturized on Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif where he is narrating his feelings to his beloved ones. The song is of high potential and fast paced and has heavy beats. Labh Jan Jua’s voice best suited with Akshay and has a feeling of originality.

Bas Ek Kinng- Mika Singh, Neeraj Sridhar, Ashish Pandit and UK pop artist Hard Kaur all come together to croon this exciting number. Since different branches of singers roped into one, it tastes differently. It is a high pitch song and one will get its essence if he hears it on his music system with high volume. It has loads of western beats and deviated from other remix versions. Pritam tried to give a different touch to it and to some extent he is successful but based on the listening factor, it can be said that the song is above average hearing.

Bhootni Ke- Bhangra king Daler Mehendi has crooned this exciting and jovial number. The song has all the masala of Punjabi folk and mood. Pritam had showed his competence in dealing with any regional track. He has been able to extract the exact mood and environment of Punjab. It is a teasing song seemingly picturized on Akshay and his friends teasing him on his marriage. It is a taping number and it would excite your mood to dance bhangra as it plays.

Teri Ore - The song is well sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Ghoshal on the track written by Mayur Puri. Since the duo is a rare combination, the result tuned out to be compelling. It is a unique romantic number and quite enticing. On listening to the song, the music lover would experience some serene feeling. The song can be heard playing repeatedly.

Talli Hua – At last, Pritam’s successful partner Neeraj Sridhar comes to croon for him and tries to give him another hit number like Teri Aankhen Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Pritam and Neeraj is a successful duo and they have again come together to refresh the mood of the audience. Though it may not sound exciting like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, the song would entice you to tap your feet.

Bas Ek Kinng, Bhootni Ke, Jee Karda has the capability to take up the album to a great height. More or less the album of Singh Is Kinng sounds like a Punjabi remixes. Almost all the songs have the flavor of Punjab. Time will say at what height it would reach finally. Hope Pritam, Vipul Shah, Akshay and Katrina rock with Singh Is Kinng.
