Salaam-E-Ishq is a much awaited film as it has six star couples with some of bollywood’s biggest names. Nikhil Advani has once again used opulence in keeping with his trademark style which was seen in Kal Ho Na Ho. Salman, Priyanka, John, Govinda, Vidya, Juhi, etc will be seen in the film and the film has six different love stories which have a common thread. The music has been composed by the talented threesome, Shankhar, Ehsaan and Loy who have given some lavish and beautiful music albums in the past. The lyrics have been penned by Sameer and he too doesn’t disappoint. The music album of Salaam-E-Ishq has singers like Adnan Sami, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Mahalakshmi Iyer, Kailash Kher etc. The album once again manages to live up to expectations and has a bit of romance, heartache, love and wedding songs all of it. An album fit for the season of love and joy.
‘Dil Kya Kare’- Adnan Sami makes a return splash as he croons this number in his heady and high style. He sounds both soulful and playful as he croons these lyrics which are fun filled and have a bit of playful humour. Beats are averagely paced and musical arrangements have a fascinating mix of country sounds. It sounds like a Goa-Portugese kind of music style with guitar strings, piano and keyboard tunes in the background. A light, playful love song that is fun to listen to.

‘Saiyaan Re’- Begins with some raga kind of tunes and then one gets to hear contrasting remixed foot tapping kind of beats. It has a bit of folk village tune mixed with a bit of western beats and rap. One gets to hear various musical arrangements that of tabla, dhol and bhangra beats. Singer Shilpa Rao sings nicely and Shankhar and Loy add their own interesting effort. It has a more Indianised feel to it and is likely to be picturised on Govinda which will only make it more interesting. A decent song that grows on you gradually.

‘Mera Dil’- Shaan and newcomer Nihira croon this one and they do a fine job. This is a vibrant, peppy happy song about love. It has foot tapping beats and one gets to hear the guitar, tabla and even bhangra beats. Musical arrangements have a lively pace and the song exudes exuberance. It has a catchy popular chorus and is a youthful happy love song. It sounds good and plays on the feel good factor.

‘Salaam-E-Ishq’-This is the title number and has fantastic production values which have a larger than life effect. There is a mix of the Bagpiper sounds with tabla and bhangra beats which gives it a kind of lavish wedding song appeal. Musical arrangements alternate from a peppy and lively tune to soft and sweet music. Beats are foot tapping and lyrics croon about the goodness of love. Catchy, popular tune and lyrics will make this one a mass appreciated number. A plethora of singers like Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Kunal Ganjawala, Sadhana and Shankhar croon this one which is picturised on all the six couples of the film which brings even more glamour to it.

'Tenu Leke’- It has an innovative beginning with Sonu Nigam going behind the mike and then later joined by Mahalaxmi Iyer. This number can be termed another wedding or ‘baraat’ number complete Indian style with all the shenaai and band baaja accompanying it. It’s the wedding season and what better way than to promote the season of joy with this one. It is a fast paced number with a lot of tabla, dhol and bhangra beats which are the essential of Indian weddings. Loud music and total chaos but nonetheless enjoyable.

‘Babuji Dheere Chalna’- Shankhar, Ehsaan and Loy seem to have a penchant for recreating the magic of classic old numbers. It begins with some English lyrics but as soon as Nihira begins to croon in her clear and beautiful voice one is reassured that this not going to be one of those bizarre remixes. Most of the essence of the old tune is kept intact and one just gets to hear some light techno beats. The song’s lyrics are of course classic and can never fade away from one’s memory and hearing it again is definitely a pleasure. Musical arrangements are light and subtle with a bit of the flute heard.

‘Ya Rabba’- It has a bit of a slow raga, qawalli feel that Kailash Kher’s amazing voice does complete justice to. It’s one of the best numbers in the album and is a melancholic love song about heartburn. One gets to hear guitar, piano and flute beats which are soft, slow and soulful all along. Even the background singing with the vocals in the forefront is done very well. Lyrics by Sameer are absolutely touching and refreshing. It also has a bit of semi-classical influences which make it even more magical. A soul stirring number that will make you think of your long lost love.

Salaam-E-Ishq music album has lots of chutzpah, masala and a high dose of the bollywood fare. Although a lot of its numbers are loud and lavish, they are catchy and popular too. The album is in keeping with the film and has high drama and beautiful happy love songs. It has a balanced mix of everything and will definitely go on to become extremely popular in days to come.
