Race is an action thriller film with hot guys, sexy gals and loads of fast paced action. Naturally one expects the music to be racy, catchy and pacy to match the film. The film stars some big names of bollywood like Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy. With such a varied and talented star cast there is a lot of anticipation for the film as well the music album. The music has been composed by Pritam who has delivered several hit film albums last year and the lyrics have been composed by Sameer.
'Race Saanson Ki'- Sunidhi Chauhan accompanied by Neeraj croon this racy and pacy track. The song begins with an electronic guitar which gives the song the added pep and pace, it then moves onto the famous 'Mission Impossible' theme tune which adds the thrill and action to the song. The words 'Allah Duhai hai' are repeated like the chorus and are quite catchy. It has a snazzy tune, with fast paced beats and cool rendition punctuated by generated sounds. Musical arrangements show diversity which compliment the song further, but the lyrics are just average. 'Race Is On My Min' is another version of the song that has both Hindi as well as English lyrics. There are a few more club versions that have added spunk and beats and can be termed as club numbers. The cool video with all the stars only adds to the value and this one is surely high on style and package. A cool number.
'Pehli Nazar Mein'- Atif Aslam croons this romantic number with depth and emotion. It has a soft rock style and the lyrics are sweet and romantic. The song is filled with melody and good rhythm. Musical arrangements have a bit of western influences and this gives it a unique style. Music is catchy and the number is exquisite. The 'club mix' and 'lounge mix' are pacier and will be a treat for the clubs and lounges.
'Race Theme'- it is an instrumental piece that will be heard in the background of the film. It is a short but intriguing piece that has a haunting appeal that goes with the thriller and suspense genre of the film.
'Dekho Nashe Mein'- a peppy party track crooned by Shaan, K.K and Sunidhi Chauhan. It is a dance number with average lyrics. It is a foot tapping number again with fast paced beats. But the music is not catchy. But the 'Latin mix' and the 'club mix' add more spunk and funk to the number making it a total dance, party track. It is an enjoyable number.
'Mujh Pe To Jadoo'- a high spirited celebratory number sung by Taz. It has funk added with Apache Indian's rap and Sunidhi Chauhan too joins in. It is a playful song with lively beats and bit of bhangra and Indi-pop added. The music and lyrics are average, but it is mostly just a fun time-pass number.
'Zara Zara Touch Me'- it is seductive number sung by Monali. The song has a naughty, sexy and playful style in its musical arrangements. It is averagely paced. But the music and the lyrics are once again forgettable. However the picturisation and chemistry between Saif and Katrina is definitely awaited and will perhaps add to the song. There is an 'Asian RnB Mix' and a 'remix version which are average in appeal as this one perhaps did not require other versions. An average song.
Race's music album has fast pacy numbers, a romantic soulful number, a sexy number, dance party tracks etc. It has a balanced yet varied set of songs which make its album an interesting eclectic mix of songs. The originals and even the remixes entertain and are mainly for the masses. The album has mass appeal and has catchy, fast paced music that sets the adrenaline flowing and is in keeping with the 'Race' theme. All in all it is a good album that will grow in appeal.
