The first big Bollywood film of 2013 is going to be “Race 2”. It belongs to the genre of suspense-thriller and is a sequel to the 2006 release “Race”. The previous film had been very successful and so the expectations are quite high from its sequel. The film has been directed by the duo of Abbas Mustan and is being produced by UTV Productions.
This film stars John Abraham, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone , Jacqueline Fernandes, Amisha Patel and Anil Kapoor. The music of this film has been revving up on the music charts. The album has an eclectic mix of soulful songs to peppy numbers. The music of this film has been composed by Pritam.
The first song that was released was ‘Party on my mind’. The song has been sung by Shefali Alvares, K.K and Honey Singh. The song has a catchy tune and has struck the right cord with the youth. This song is apt for being played at clubs.
The other song is “Be Intehaan” that has got Atif Aslam and Sunidhi Chauhan on board. Both the singers have delivered pretty well in this song. The vocals are intense, soulful and passionate. The music is in sync with its lyrics.
The song “Lat Lag Gaye” has been rendered by Shalmali Kholgade and Benny Dayal. This song fits into the space of “Zara zara touch me” from the previous instalment of this film. Benny Dayal is able to do justice with this song but Shalmali’s voice quite lacks charisma.
“Allah Duhai Hai” is the other song that the film would have been incomplete without. This song is sung by Atif Aslam, Vishal dadlani, Michi One, Ritu Pathak and Anushka Manchanda. The song has a good composition. It is in the lines of the previous original song with the same title but has been tweaked to give it a fresh touch. This song is the anthem of this film. Atif Aslam’s voice stands out amongst the throng of vocals. He has done a commendable job in this song.
Race 2-Mashup has all the above mentioned four songs mashed up into one song. This has been the trend these days with most song albums. The songs in this track have also been remixed. This track has been getting a ‘thumbs up’ from the listeners as this concept is quite unique and thus seems to be working.
All in all the album is definitely good
but could have been better considering the songs of “Race” 2008 were more
