Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again

‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara’ is a Hindi gangster movie which is directed by Milan Luthria and is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. The movie is a sequel of 2010 released movie ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’.  The lead actors of the movie are Akshay Kumar, Imraan Khan and Sonakshi Sinha. Sonali Bendre appears in a supporting role. The movie is scheduled to be released on 15th August, which is Independence Day and a National holiday.

The music of the movie is given by Pritam who has given hit songs of movies like ‘Barfi’, ‘Cocktail’ and ‘Bodyguard’ among others. The movie has got four songs only.

The first song from the album is ‘Yeh Tune Kya Kiya’. The song is styled as a qawwali song. It is sung by Javed Bashir. The song also has some chorus voices. The song is fresh and gets the essence of the time period in which the movie is projected. The song has beats from tabla and tunes from harmonium. The song is beautiful, melodious and much Indian. Even the filming of this song is apt.

The second song is ‘Tayyab Ali Pyaar ke Dushman Haaye Haaye’. The song is sung by Jawed Ali. The song is copied from a yesteryear movie ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’. Only the ‘antaras’ are different. The song is undoubtedly melodious and has an element of fun in it. Even the filming is almost like the filming of the original song. It is a good effort of recreating an old song. The original song was sung by Rafi. The only sad part is that Pritam has not put his magic in this song. It could have been recreated brilliantly with a touch of Pritam’s music.

The next song is ‘Tu Hi Khwahish’ and is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. The song reminds of the cabaret songs of 80’s. The song has a vintage appeal. It has also used ‘ha ha’ style of R D Burman. The song is inspired by style of R D Burman’s composition and arrangement. Sunidhi has a punch in her voice. Her voice is terrific. She has beautifully molded her voice in cabaret style of Asha Bhosle.

The fourth and last song is ‘chugliyaan’. It is a romantic number. The song is slightly complex but Javed Ali has sung it with ease.

Overall, though the album is short, the quality is good and hence worth listening to.
