Main Aur Mrs Khanna - Music Review
The music of Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Main Aur Mrs Khanna’ is believed to be a musical bonanza with Sajid-Wajid as music composer. But except few, the music does not sound thrilling. It’s a Sohail Khan’s second production after ‘Heroes’and he has again signed in Sajid-Wajid to compose the music of Main Aur Mrs Khanna. Past record shows that Salman had a terrific combination with Sajid-Wajid. The music of films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya and the latest Wanted hit the chartbusters. Preity Zinta’s item number was compared with Kajra Re by Alisha Chinai but cannot reach to that level.
There are altogether five original songs and two remixes. The songs are ingredients of love, separation, happiness and sorrow. The songs are penned by Kumar. Prominent singers like Sonu, Nigam, Shreya Ghosal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan lends their voice. Below is the gist of the song.
The album opens with ‘Don’t Say Alvida’ by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghosal with Suzanne D'Mello at the backdrop. The song is a contemporary Bollywood romantic number just average to hear. On first hearing, it may not appeal you but after on repeated listening, you will fall for the number. Sajid-Wajid is known for romantic offering but this time they prove stale.
The second song goes as ‘Happening’, picturized on beautiful Preity Zinta. It is an item number with high beats. Joining steps with her are Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Harmonium, drums, tabla etc are more prominent here. Versatile Sunidhi Chauhan crooned this exciting number and giving her company are Wajid, Farhad, Uvie and Raja Mushtaq. It is a fun, foot tapping number. Time will say whether it will make to the chartbusters or not.
The third track, ‘Rabba’ by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a soft track, full of soul and speaks about pain. After some fast, exciting songs, ‘Rabba’ offers some relief and calmness. The song is good to hear.
The song ‘Tum Ne Socha’ is a pleasant hearing. Again Shreya Ghosal took charge of the mike. This time Wajid gives her company. The lyric by Arun Bhairav is very meaningful and feels one soul with new delight. It is also another soft track. It will definitely become famous among the music lovers.
The final track as well as the title track, ‘Mrs Khanna’ has a western influence with Bappi Da, Sunidhi, Shaan, Suzanne and Neuman Pinto taking hold of the mike. Picturized on Sohail Khan and Kareena Kapoor, the song is nothing extraordinary. Western beats are more prominent here.
On the whole, Main Aur Mrs Khanna is an average album. Few numbers will appeal the music-goers. Not good enough to rule the chartbusters.
