The film basically deals with the life of four women which depicts how these four women live it up, there were also a buzz that it was based on ‘Dil Chatha Hai’ and the main difference in this film was that here the protagonists were women instead of boys. The film has been directed by Amar Butala and stars Rekha, Mahima Choudhary, Vasundhara Das, Kim Sharma, Ashmit Patel, Nikhil Chinnappa, Sachin Khedekar and Kabir Sadanand. The music has been composed by Iqbal and Yasin Darbar and some of the singers include Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Udit Narayan and Suzanne. Among the starcast singer/actress Vasundhara, Rekha also exercise their vocal chords and Nikhil does a remix. Unfortunately though the film is hardly being promoted and only recently a music video was seen.
‘Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana’- This title song is sung mainly by Sunidhi Chauhan and Jaspinder Narula. The song adopts a fusion of the conventional 90’s style music along with bhangra beats where the dhol is heard. The rhythm has a slight folk tune and the beats are averagely paced. The lyrics though are a let down and in certain places sounds tacky. The musical arrangements too are nothing to boast of and it is just another average song. It is a women’s celebration song with lots of bhangra, claps and whistles. There is a ‘Remix Version’ with faster beats and pace. This version also has a bit of hip-hop thrown in to give the song that western feel. Overall it’s a time-pass number but not one that will be remembered.
Score: 6/10
‘Jaanam’- The number begins with the strumming of a guitar and Shaan begins to croon in his soft and stylish voice. Female singer Sadhana too joins him and though the two of them give it their all, it once again turns out to be an average 90’s style love song. The beats and pace of the song are more on the slower and softer side. Musical arrangements include a mix of the guitar, tabla and piano. The lyrics, rhythm and tune are of the conventional variety. It is the typical old style, bollywood romantic number which is decent enough. There are two more versions, ‘male version’ and ‘female version’ which are much shorter and have a slightly melancholic effect. An overall average but plain number.
Score: 6/10
‘Abhi Abhi’- A number which has an old world feel to it and is sung in the melodious voices of Udit Narayan and Ayesha Darbar. It’s a romantic love song that begins with some guitar chords and has several other musical instruments throughout. The beats and pace of the song are foot tapping. The lyrics too have the old world and 90’s feel to it with mushy, love phrases heard throughout. The song has been written by A. M Turaz and will be appreciated by those who enjoy this genre of old world music which has rhythm and tune that has its own nostalgia and sweetness.
Score: 6/10
‘Din Dhal Jaaye’- The song has a surprise in the form of Rekha who is heard crooning the number and sounds quite capable. The sounds of the night are heard in the background and minimalist musical instruments are used. The song is slow paced and the lyrics are quite decent. Rekha is heard crooning about the day going by but not the night without one’s loved one. She gives her voice a bit of huskiness while singing. The song has a soft sweet lullaby feel and ends with a bit of laughter. The effort clearly comes across through Rekha’s rendition and the song is expressive.
Score: 6.5
‘Kamrein Mein Aaja’- A hip-hop, rap number that is sung by Vasundhara Das and Rahul Seth who render it with ease. Suzanne joins as a back up voice. It’s a light and funky song that has heavy beats which are foot tapping. It has a mischievous undertone but is not vulgar. The musical arrangements and rhythm give the song body and soul. Lyrics are average. There is a bit of rap n reggae in the middle and the tune is popular and catchy. A promotional music video has been made with this number and it definitely qualifies as one of the most popular and fun numbers of the album. There is a ‘second version’ where one gets to hear Shaan singing and he gives the song a new lift with his unique and cool style. The beats are peppy and lively. A final version of the song ‘Electro Probe Mix’ has been done by DJ Nikhil and DJ Nawed with a lot of club mixing. Beats take on a trance like effect and the remix version is an all out club/lounge mix. A nice youthful number.
Score: 7/10
Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana music album reverts back to an old style but also tries to include the modern style with ‘Kamrein Mein Aaja’. Unfortunately the film nor has its music been promoted well and hence the songs have not yet caught on. On the whole the music of the film is average and not extraordinary.
