Khatta Meetha - Music Review

Khatta MeethaThough Khatta Meetha deals with social issue and barely has any scope for good music, Priyadarshan roped in music director Pritam for a soothing outing. Priyan and Pritam’s combination has given us some wonderful offering in the past like Billu and Bhool Bhulaiya. Not only Priyan and Pritam’s blend create the magic but the combination of Akki-Priyan-Pritam also brought out chartbusters like Garam Masala and De Dana Dhan. Khatta Meetha comes from the bag of Akshay Kumar’s production  Hari Om Entertainment Co. and knowing the effect of good music, he would not compromise anything with good music. When Pritam’s name is associated with any film, the expectation level rises up and same is the case with Khatta Meetha.

The album has four original music and three remixes. Sung by different singers like Daler mehendi, KK, Sunidhi Chauhan, Khatta Meetha comes out be an average album. Choice is very limited, picks are very few. But as it has a wonderful pairing of Akshay Kumar and South sensation Trisha, it would not go away without creating sensation. It included every category of song.

The album opens with ‘Nana Chi Taang’ by Kunal Ganjawala. The song is unique in the sense that it is a mixture of Hindi and Marathi lyrics. The musical arrangements is marvelous and one of the best tracks of the album. Kunal Ganjawala’s voice goes very well with the song and it is a treat for the ear. Liable to hit the chartbusters. Irshad Kamil's lyrics is very catchy. The song is surely played on the main protagonist, Akshay Kumar. Hope it attracts the music-goers.

The remixed version of ‘Nana Chi Taang’ by Kiran Kamath is also enchanting. The difference from the original is that it is loaded with beats and rhythm.
Next is a romantic number ‘Sajde’ picturized on Akshay and Trisha. The feel of the song is mesmerizing. Sung by versatile singers Sunidhi Chauhan and KK, the song is a treat fro the ears. Soft music, medium track and touching lyrics by Irshad Kamil make the song catchy. Indian musical arrangements like tabla, payal, sitar, flute goes well with the song. It won’t be thrilling like ‘Teri Ore’ but sounds quite romantic.

The remix version of Sajde falls in the same line that of the original track but has some extra beats and some western music.

Next offering of Pritam is ‘Bullshit’ which is totally situational. Since the film is a comedy and makes fun of corrupt politician that makes false promises, some pain has been taken by Pakistani pop singer Shehzad to write the lyrics and sing the song is an appealing manner. The difficult task has been entrusted on Pakistani pop singer Shehzad Roy and he has done full justice with it. Musical arrangements are mostly Indian. The Hindi and English lyrics are quite appealing. As the film is a laughter riot, this song goes very well with the film.

The final soundtrack of the film is ‘Aila Aila’ sung by Bhangra king Daler Mehendi. Instead of Punjabi, he crooned in Marathi. Kalpana Patowary sung the female part and the remix version has been sung by Kamath. The song is loud, noisy, fun filled written by Nitin Raikwar.

In the nutshell, the music of ‘Khatta Meetha’ is not superlative but average.
