Heyy Babyy is a comic caper that has been produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by debutant Sajid Khan. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Ritesh Deshmukh and Vidya Balan. The film seems to be inspired from the Hollywood flick Three Men and a Baby. The music has been composed by the trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy and singers Neeraj, Raman, Loy, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Sajid Khan etc have lent their voices for the album. The lyrics have been penned by Sameer and Anvita.
‘Dholna’- Sonu Nigam belts out this number on a soft but strong note with Shreya Ghoshal adding her vocals. It is resplendent with traditional beats where lots of traditional Indian instruments are used and a bit of modern influences too. It has 90’s style singing and has a strong Yash Raj feel to it. It comes across as traditional and earthy in nature with tablas, ghungroos, dhol beats etc having a strong presence. It’s a 90’s style love song and belongs to the old school of charm. Beats are slow and paced to give a natural effect. The lyrics are soothing and the song is soft and melodious. There is a Dholna-Love in the air Remix version by DJ Whosane with claps and a bit of hip-hop rap to give it a modern appeal. Beats are peppier and remixed. It belongs more to the old school of melody and rhythm which has a unique charm. Overall it is a fine number.

‘Heyy Babyy’- This song has about three versions and this original version has been sung by Raman, Loy, Neeraj etc. The beats are averagely paced and the rhythm is cheerful and peppy. The lyrics are casual and light-hearted. It’s catchy and hummable. The beats have a strong techno, retro note and the song itself depicts love as a useless and time-wasting emotion. The song depicts three guys who are not interested in falling in love but are definitely keen on having a good time. It’s a youthful song with chilled out lyrics and groovy beats. Overall an enjoyable song to listen to as well as groove to.
There is another remix version by the Girl band which is an outright dance tune. The song is filled with English sayings, shouts and claps. It comes across as a pop song with fierce, peppy beats and energetic singing. The lyrics are average and there is more emphasis on beats which have a techno, groovy pace. There’s loads of experimentation with sounds, beats and synchronization too. A peppy dance remix.
Another Big O Remix version of Heyy Babyy by DJ Whosane. Another sprightly dance remix with various sounds, peppy fast beats, some synchronized rap, play on lyrics & sounds. A variety of musical arrangements and tunes are incorporated and the track sounds good.

‘Jaane Bhi De’- Shankar and Loy sing this lighthearted number with gusto. There is guitar strumming and it has a frothy salsa kind of tune that makes the song energetic, bright and lively. A reggae kind of tune also creeps in with various musical instruments like a tambourine and other peppy musical arrangements. Lyrics are of the casual and catchy variety where one sings along. The song has all three heroes wooing or convincing the heroine to forgive and forget the issue. It is a fun and youthful number. There is a Hip-Hop Hiccup Remix version by DJ Whosane who goes all out to give the song a face lift. It has an eclectic start and one hears plenty of skipping, remixing, synchronizing etc. It has added vocals and the beats are tuned with a different style. The singing vocals too have been given a face lift with an added dose of zing. An interesting remix.

‘Mast Kalandhar’- This qawalli number has been rendered by Shankar, Rehan Khan, Salim and Sajid Khan. It has a bit of traditional Sufi style intermingled with the modern. The beats have a distinct earthy feel with a few sayings interspersed. Musical arrangements are rich and varied. Plenty of tunes can be heard in the song and the beats are average to fast paced with shouts and claps being an integral part. The lyrics are emotional and appeal to the audience with its warmth and empathy. A song that is evergreen and earthy.

‘Meri Duniya Tu Hi Re’- The song has been sung by Sonu Nigam, Shaan and Shankar. It begins with soft lilting lullaby music and the song is an ode to the little baby. The vocals are soft and melodious with slow beats. The pace is average and the rhythm is laidback. Musical arrangements are light and there is an added electric guitar piece that is soft but poignant. Lyrics are meaningful and of the simple variety. The song is laidback and soft. There are background voices chiming along and the song almost has the feel of a classy instrumental at times. A simple sweet song.

Heyy Babyy has peppy songs, soft sweet romantic numbers, qawalli etc. It has a variety of numbers that are on the album. Some songs will be hits but even the others have their own charm and melody. Also almost all the songs will have a timeless charm and can be heard even later on. The music album is good.
