Music of some newly released films like Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na, Phoonk, Rock On etc is making much hullabaloo all over. Next in the streamline is Hello. Lots of hype encircles the film as it is Salman Khan starrer flick and an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s One Night At The Call Center. It is a widely read book and the movie is also expected to be seen in wide number. Salman and Sajid-Wajid’s combination is always a cherished one. The film will appeal the youngsters most and so the music is framed keeping in mind the taste of the youth. Most of them are funky number and it would be too early to predict how much effecting it would be. The task of penning the lyrics has been given to Jalees Sherwani.
There are altogether six songs and each given a different treatment. The album is a combination of hip-hop, pop, disco and soft. Sajid-Wajid has tried to bring newness to the album and the responsibility of crooning the songs are given to numerous versatile singers. The album cannot be touted exceptional but to some extent melodious to hear. One may not fall in love with it on listening at the first instance but gradually develop some interest. Here is a gist of the song.
The album opens with the title track Hello and it goes as ''Hello, hello, Pick up it up, pick it up, pick your phone up!'' A horde of singers like Wajid, Suzy Q, Ishq Bector, Herchelle, Merlin and Tim come together to croon this funky number. The song is totally situational and makes one acquaint about what the film deals with. It opens with a beep sound and suits to the mood of the film. The lyric is amusing and it is totally synchronized with the situation. On hearing it, we will feel that it is must to be included. It can be touted as a party number and can be played in discos and pubs. It will set the dance floor on fire.
The second track of the film is Rab Ka Banda; western music has been incorporated in it and it sounds average. It is a situational number sung by Sonu Nigam in the lead with Zubin and Sunidhi Chauhan. It can be treated as another fast number and thoughtful in composition. The westernized arrangement has given a different touch to the song. You may develop interest once you hear the lyric and song minutely. Sufi touch is spreaded over it. A combination of sufi and western track gives an unique touch to the song.
The track that follows soon after Rab Ka Banda is Karle Baby Dance Wance, it is a total foot tapping number and entice one to dance to this exciting and hot number. The song has some bhangra flavor incorporated in it. This time Bhangra king, Daler Mehendi takes hold of the mike. The song turns out to be quite thrilling and Daler fills up the mood of the party groovers. You can add to your favorite list. It has a feel good effect.
The fourth track of the flick is Bang Bang Bang crooned by Wajid, it is picturized on Salman Khan and that's why so much anticipation surrounds it. Salman Khan has many solo hits in his bag and this time too he is expected to sizzle and register another solo hit. It is an exciting dance track which may set the dance floor on fire. It may appeal one to play while grooving in discos or pubs. The musical arrangement is complimentary.
Next follows is Mitwa Re. It is a romantic number crooned by Shaan and Sadhana Sargam. After some funky and hip-hop number when you hear this track, you will experience an altogether different feeling. It is quite pleasant hearing and takes the audience to the deep sea of love and peace. It is a good romantic piece.
Last but not the least is Caravan, it is sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan. It is a sad song and has a Sufi flavor. This slow pace number narrates the pain and agony of the protagonist and almost sounds situational. Tabla is the main instrument that can be heard at the backdrop. Not exceptional but average hearing.
On the whole, the music of Hello cannot be touted top-notch and may not add to the success quotient of the film. Sajid-Wahid’s last offering Partner sizzled throughout but this time they fail to create the same electrifying effect.
