Dhamaal is an all male comedy film directed by Indra Kumar. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Ashish Choudhary, Ritesh Deshmukh. The music of the film has been composed by Adnan Sami and the some of the singers include Adnan Sami, Shaan, Amit Kumar, Asha Bhosle etc. The lyrics have penned by Sameer.
‘Dekho Dekho Dil Ye Bole- Dhamaal’- This is the title song of the film and it has all the heroes gyrating in a casual, disc like ambience setting the mood for the film. It is a light breezy dance number sung by Adnan Sami and Shaan. The lyrics are average and the beats range from fast to average. English sayings are frequently interspersed to give it a modern pop feel. There is an electric guitar piece done in the middle which catches one’s attention. Overall the musical arrangements are average and the song too is light and passable.
Score: 6/10
‘Miss India Martee Mujhpe’- This Adnan Sami and Amit Kumar rendered song has some really unpalatable lyrics which may make you cringe. The beats are averagely paced with flute strains heard throughout. The musical arrangements are okay but the lyrics seem to put one off and naturally one may not even get interested in the rest of the song. The tune often takes off from the title song Dhamaal and sounds identical at times. Nonetheless the song may work strictly in the film perhaps with a comic presentation.
Score: 5/10
‘Chandani Raat Hai Saiyaan’- This romantic mood song is sung by Asha Bhosle and Amit Kumar, however the number still comes across as average. It has a steady pace and beats are average with a slightly ‘qawalli’ feel to it. The musical arrangements have ample of Indian instruments with the harmonium standing out. The rhythm and tune is not catchy and the lyrics are average. There is an ‘instrumental version’ by Raghav Sachar and the flute sound is predominant. ‘Remix Version’ by Sandip Shirodkar is a bit pacier but average again.
Score: 6/10
‘Chal Nache Shor Machlein’- This number is rendered by Adnan Sami and Shaan and it seems to be fairly listenable. It’s a Pakistani rock tune with average to fast beats. It’s pacy and the rhythm is good. There is an ‘instrumental version’ of this song by Naveen which is fare. Overall the song is decent and is foot tapping.
Score: 7/10
Dhamaal album is strictly in sync with the film and situational. The numbers do not have much of lyrical value though the music is fare. Adnan Sami is known more for his soulful tunes and even his comedy numbers have been entertaining in the past, but this album composed by him is just about average and has nothing extraordinary.
