De Taali - Music Review
De Taali is a comedy flick and so the music has been framed keeping in mind the comic element by musical director duo Vishal-Shekhar. They had proved their credential in many films like Om Shanti Om, Salaam Namaste, Golmaal etc. But their recent offerings like Tashan, Bhoothnath has lowered their ranking to a certain level. Now its time for them to re-create the magic of their hit films once again. Let’s wait and see whether the music of De Taali will be able to wash away from the mind of the audience the nightmare of his two recent releases. The music of De Taali is a blend of comedy, romance and full of masti as it is a film comprising of all youngsters like Ritiesh Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, Ayesha Takia and Rimi Sen. The director duo has incorporated many funny notes in it and at the same time scriptwriter turned lyricist Abbas Tyrewala has included many comic element in the lyrics. There are altogether six songs which are different from each other in terms of composition, sound, rhythm and music. Here is a gist of the songs.
Everybody puts your hands together – The album opens with ‘Everybody puts your hands together’ by Sunidhi Chauhan, Anushka Manchanda and Shaan. The three jubilant singer come together to croon the song. It is a perfect club number and on listening to it, one cannot hold their feet from grooving with the number. It is filled with peppy youthfulness and sound quite energetic and fun filled. One can add it to their favorite party number.
Aaj Mein Boondh Hoon – It is a romantic number crooned by Shreya Ghosal and music director turned singer Shekhar Ravijani. This time Vishal Dadlani takes the responsibility of writing the lyrics of this sensuous number and incorporates some romantic and light hearted words in it. Shekhar Ravijani made a good attempt but it is Shreya Ghosal who will able to conquer the heart and soul of the listeners. The song will take you to the world of romance and love. She will mesmerize you with her sweet voice. Time will say whether the song will hit the chartbusters or not.
Hone Lagi – It is another soft number crooned by fast pace singer Anuksha Manchanda. The song takes you back to the 80s when RD Burman ruled the heart of the people with some of his exciting numbers. Anuksha who is popularity known for her fast track had experimented something different this time. In this song, she has slower down her pace and totally indulged in soft, sweet and romantic note. Joining her is the new singer Shekhar Ravjiani.
Maari Teetri – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa runner up, Raja Hasan rendered his voice to the song and his voice is best suited to it as he is popularly known for singing folk songs. He is the right choice of the director and Raja on his part has done full justice to this Rajasthani folk. His work is commendable and simultaneously, he deserves huge round of applause.
Tooti Phooti - This song crooned by Shaan, KK and Sunidhi Chauhan is totally new, refreshing and breath-taking. It has the capability to attract the audience to hear repeatedly. It is a good number and is considered to be one of the driving forces of the film. It has got uniqueness in all respect.
De Taali – The title song of the film De Taali has been crooned by Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan. With this song Abbas Tyrewala stepped into the shoes of lyricist. In spite of inclusion of some funny rhythmic line like "Tu meri life ki shinning hai, winning hai, dinning hai, woh kaali badal to, tu silver lining hai, the song falls average and may fail to rank in the title number track.
On the whole, the songs of De Taali are average to hear and will play on radio and TV channels for only limited period of time. It is more like an experimental music as with this film Vishal had stepped into the shoes of lyricists and Shekhar into singing field. Hope the film successful in collecting heavy tickets at the theatres and may not fall average like its music.
