Cocktail’ is a sleek, stylish and super cool movie. The film has a youth, peppy feeling and so it’s music. After the super duper success of ‘Love Aaj Kal’ music and moderate success of ‘Agent Vinod’, Saif Ali Khan again put the responsibility of framing a soothing music for this third production ‘Cocktail’ on Pritam Chakraborty who is the number one music director of Bollywood today.

Keeping in view the content, Pritam has experimented with the music by making a cocktail of Indian and western beats. The lyrics by  Irshad Kamil was amazing. The music of ‘Cocktail’ is peppy, foot-tapping, youthful and very lively. From the film promo, it seems that Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and debutante Diana Penty are friends forever and going through their dostana, the music are also friendly which the young generation can easily connects.

Songs like ‘Tumhi Ho Bandhu’, ‘Daaru Desi’ are catching the attention instantly. The songs of ‘Cocktail’ have a feel good effect and it immediately hold the interest.

The album starts with a beach song, Tumhi Ho Bandhu’. Kavita Seth’s earthy voice has poured life to this song which speaks about friend and friendship. The song is full of fun. Irshad Kamil's friendlily lyrics is the high point of the song. The song falls in the line of Amit Tridevi’s ‘Iktara’ and Kavita’s spectacular voice pour life and energy into the song. It has been doing round all the music channels for quite sometime and fans could be heard chanting ‘Tumhi Ho Bandhu’.

Next come another thrilling song ‘Daaru Desi’. If we remember ‘Love Aaj Kal’ also has a similar type of song picturized on Saif and Deepika and the song really come out well. Here too friends enjoys every moment of life and stands together in any odds. The song is high on beats but guitar rules the most. Benny Dayal's cool and husky tones add charm to the song. ‘Daaru Desi’ is a delight to hear. Kudos to the wordings and great applause to Pritam who pull the song so well.

The next track the follows is ‘Yaariyan’ . Drums and guitar mostly rule the song. Opening sound will remind you of "In my Place" by Coldplay. Mohan Kanan (lead vocalist of Agnee) and Shilpa Rao are the lead singers here and their superb combination of voice delivered a winning track. Again friendship is the base of the song. Arijit Singh's classical 'alaaps' in the concluding added life to the song. It has a chill effect.

The reprise version sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Arjit Singh is better than the original. The orchestra at the backdrop has a desired effect.

After all dostana, comes a foot-tapping item number ‘Second hand Jawani’. Highly instrumental and the song calls for a raunchy dance number. This time Pritam tries something different. He has made a cocktail of Arabian, African and Punjabi folk flavors to bring out a different flamboyance mood. Neha Kakkar along with Miss Pooja and Nakash Aziz landed their voice. it will joins the league of ‘Imported Kamariya’ from Sanghai and ‘Pritam Pyaare’ from Rowdy Rathore’.

Pritam is back to his bangra love. After Aahun Aahun from ‘Love Aaj Kaal’, he developed a modern bhangra with high and naughty beats with ‘Teri Japdi Phiran’. It triggers the enthusiasm and makes one dance to the enjoyable track. Javed Bashir and Shefali Alvares’s vocals has added a special touch to the song. This special bangra is a blend of English and Hindi lyrics. Nikhil D’Souza has has croned the Enghlish part. Bhangra is like must must in Pritam’s album.

It also has remix part but it fails to match with the original.

Another track that stands out is ‘Luttna’ sung by Masuma Anwar, Sahir Ali, and Anupam Amod. The song has a Sufi feel and it takes one to a different world. The chorus is also amazing.

Pritam roped Pakistani singer Arif Lohar for ‘Jugni Ji’. He has such an amazing voice that completely suits the song. Arif Lohar along with Harshdeep Kaur has been create a soothing track that mesmerizes the listeners at the word go.

The album ends with ‘Main Sharaabi’ and ‘Angreji Beat’. ‘Main Sharabi is definitely a winner. Honey Singh and Imran Aziz Mian’s combination has given the track a unique touch.

In the nutshell, ‘Cocktail’ has some of the best tracks. Pritam is again successful in delivering a hit album. The songs of the film wll definitely help in cashing in good amount at the box-office.
