Bhoothnath - Music Review

BhoothnathBhoothnath is a children film and so its music has been framed keeping in mind the choice factor of the kids. The music of Bhoothnath is a compilation of fun, joy and sorrow. There are six songs, while some able to sooth our ears and some not. Director Ravi Chopra has given the responsibility to compose the music of Bhoothnath to the topnotch music director duo Vishal-Shekhar but the songs fail to impress one and all. It lacks soul. Looking at the promo, it seems that much importance has been given to the theme and music is sidelined. Singer Sukhwinder Singh and some child singers crooned for Bhoothnath. Juhi Chawla who has been learning classical music for quite sometime lends her voice in one of the song along with Amitabh Bachchan. Below is a gist of the six songs of Bhoothnath.

Banku Bhaiya – The album opens with the song Banku Bhaiya. It is a funny number crooned by Sukhwinder Singh. It has a folk touch and sounds quite entertaining. It depicts the jovial mood of the child protagonist Banku. The song gives an idea of the naughtiness of the child.

Mere Buddy – The song is less impressive. kid singer Arman Mallik joins Amitabh Bachchan behind the mike. The song lacks thrill and it is quite flat. It has no deviation and variation. It is an average music and does not have the flavor to attract listeners to listen it repeatedly.

Hum Toh Hain Aandhi –Dozen of kids sung the song together. When one plays the music, they will have the idea that one group is challenging the other group. Quarrel and teasing is inseparable from a kid and the song depicts the very fact.  Koushtuv Ghosh, Sharavan Suresh, Sneha Suresh and Aparna Bhagwat together crooned this demanding song. The song is fresh and cool.

Samay Ka Pahiya – It is a sad song sung by Hariharan and Amitabh Bachchan. Sukhwinder Singh starts and soon Hariharan takes over and continues it till the end. The music takes you back to the early 80’s. It speaks about the pain and suffering of a lonely soul. It is average to hear.

Chalo Jaane Do – With this song, beautiful Juhi Chawla makes her singing debut. Big B joined Juhi in the microphone. Though Juhi gets a good melodious voice, the song fails to touch the heart and soul of the listeners. Juhi had won over the heart of the audience by her acting but time will say how far she will go with her singing.

Bhoothnath Theme – It is a two minutes short note that makes one to experience the ghostly spirit. It tries one to scare by its theme and music but fails in its endeavor.

On the whole, Bhoothnath music scores average and can be touted as another disaster of Vishal-Shekhar after Tashan. Less attention has been paid to the music departments and made Amitabh Bachchan who is an inexperienced singer and some budding child artist to sing most of the songs. May be the director felt music does not carry much importance in Bhoothnath.
