Aryan is the story of an aspiring boxer who has two passions in life, his ladylove and boxing. The film is directed by Abhishek Kapoor and stars Sohail Khan and Sneha Ullal. This is Sneha’s second film; she made her acting debut opposite Salman Khan in the film Lucky. Unfortunately, the film Lucky did not do too well at the box-office, nor was Sneha Ullal appreciated for her performance. Let’s hope that Aryan will bring her better luck. Anand Raj Anand is the music director while Ranjit Barot has done the background music. Many singers like Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Hamza Faruqui, Poonam Khubani, Kunal Ganjawala, Pamela Jain, Bianca, Ranjit Barot and Anand himself have lent their voices for the album. The lyrics have been penned by Anand Raj Anand and Kumaar.
‘Janeman’- Aryan has Janeman as its first song. The track is slow, sweet and romantic. The song is sung in the sweet as honey voice of Shreya Ghoshal and the soft voice of Sonu Nigam. Lyrics are simple and beats are subtle. The background instruments used do not have a harsh sound, but flows gently and smoothly. In places, the song is interspersed with light Punjabi words. But somewhere in the middle, the track gets a tad dull. But nonetheless, the audience will continue to hum along with the song. The song is fairly likeable.
Score: 5/10
‘Ek Look Ek Look’- This is the next track on the album and it has three versions, which are sung by Poonam Khubani who is also the producer. And although this is her debut number, she is by far confident and sings quite well. The first version is the remix, which is sung by Khubani and done by Praful Karlekar. It has been given the ‘current in’ treatment by incorporating the rap-reggae technique, which is quite popular in bollywood. It has western influences mixed with an Indian feel that gives it mass appeal. Then comes the dhol version, in typical Punjabi mode with high emphasis on the dhol. This is the best version as it makes the track lively and one can get on the dance floor and move to it. The original version that comes in last has slower beats and is much more subtle. However, it is also quite forgettable. Lyrics are mediocre. It is an average time-pass number.
Score: 6/10
‘Teri Te Me’- This song starts off with the line Teri Te Me, but what it means is not clear. The song is forceful, punch packed and hard hitting. It’s an in your face track which is supposed to be motivational and inspiring. The song is sung by Anand and there are two lines by the female voice of Pamela Jain. The song depicts the actor’s struggle to make it to the top and come out a winner in spite of obstacles. The picturisation and rendition will go together simultaneously. But it is just for a situation in the film and will not make a mark apart from that.
Score: 4/10
‘Unbreakable Theme’- This number is composed by Ranjit Barot and it’s completely in English. It has a completely international feel to it and even the rendition done by Bianca and Ranjit gives it a Hollywood feel. This is the theme song of the movie and is apt. The song is a fusion of soulful singing in Bianca’s soft voice, rap, soft pop and heavy metal blended together. It sounds great and makes you sit up and give it an applause. The variety of instruments used is simply splendid. The song depicts hope and inspires success. It travels from fast to super fast and then soft, all done with a rhythmic flow. It’s a really brilliant composition.
Score: 8/10
‘Lamha Lamha’- This is a slow, emotional and sad song sung by Anand Raj Anand. The song has high intensity and emotions in it. It is a touching song where the lyrics are nice and meaningful. The song is sung in a deep voice that conveys the mood and feel. There is pain, longing and sadness in the song, which touches a person. There is a balance of western beats used along with Indian melody.
Score: 7/10
‘Rab Ne Mere’- This is a romantic duet sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Kunal Ganjawala. It’s a typical soft romantic song. The beats are subtle and the tempo is toned down. Shreya’s voice gives it that soothing and calm effect. It’s a traditional Anand Raj Anand composition. Lyrics are mediocre. Just an average song and it may fade away from the memory pretty soon.
Score: 5/10
‘It’s A Beautiful Day’- This song is sung by Shreya Ghoshal and newcomer Hamza. Shreya’s melodious voice mixed with Hamza’s voice creates the desired mood to the song. This is a mushy lover’s sentimental song. It’s a song that conveys the ‘drowning in your love’ and ‘only made for each other feel’. It’s the euphoria that comes during the beginning from being in love with someone. Kumaar’s Lyrics are completely in keeping the mood and feel of the song. It a nice, romantic song.
Score: 7/10
This album has a fresh and different appeal to it. It will perhaps be more appealing to the younger crowd. Anand Raj Anand has made a sincere effort and this is visible in the album. It may not be path breaking music or very popular, but is definitely listenable and enjoyable.
