Zanjeer’ is a Hindi action movie directed by Apporva Lakhia. The movie is a remake of 1973 released movie with the same title. The lead roles in the movie are played by Ram Charan Teja, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt and Prakash Raj.

The movie was simultaneously shot in Hindi and Telugu. The Telugu version is called ‘Thoofan’. The movie is released on 6thSeptember.

Every time audience hears about a remake, they get a loathing feeling of some stupid drama. Many cannot imagine any other actor or actress playing the role as the originals did. But this remake of ‘Zanjeer’ is made to stand tall and lithe among all the remakes.

The director of the movie, Apoorva Lakhia’s love for the original movie is seen instantly. He has given due respect to the original movie by keeping the essence same. Only the plot and the settings and the dialogues and of course costumes vary. That does not mean in any sense that he has just made a remake. He has recreated the movie by adding fresh ingredients and then painting it on a gigantic canvas.

The story is about an angry cop (Ram Charan) whose ire grows as he unveils a lot of conflicts which further pushes him to develop alienation towards his Khakhi uniform.  Well, in Bollywood nobody can perfect the role of an angry young man what Mr. Bachchan did. But still Ram Charan is closer to deliver a similar feeling.

Even when Ram Charan is expressing his love for a fast talking and disoriented NRI girl Mala (Priyanka Chopra), the momentum fails to slacken. Mala is a comic relief to the otherwise fast paced action loaded movie.

The movie is fast paced and one after the other a number of sequences take place which smoothly take the movie towards the climax.  The pace and the plot perfectly justify the climax.

Sanjay Dutt is splendid. Unfortunately, he could not be made physically present in a number of sequences due to his jail arrest. Wherever he is present, he has justified the acting of Pran, who was there in the original sequence. The movie beautifully shows the sensitive side of his otherwise aggressive personality. The bonding between Sanjay Dutt and Ram Charan is also warming.

The director has given a comic turn to the equation between Teja (Prakash Raj) and Mona Darling (Mahie Gill).

The movie is a classy remake and hence a paisa wasool entertainment. It’s a must watch.
