Yuvraaj - Movie Review
Subhash Ghai is a filmmaker who makes films larger than life. His every offering is marvelous and it speaks many things in three hours duration. The showman is back after a short gap with a massive entertainer and classic show titled Yuvraaj. In the album, he has put immense romanticism as the film demands so and secondly to relive for the first time on the silver screen the intense love and closeness of dashing Salman Khan and utterly vivacious Katrina.
An ear soothing song is a blend of soulful lyrics and breathtaking music composition. So after a deep thought, Subhash Ghai has given the task of framing an expressive music to music maestro A.R Rehman and man of golden words lyricist Gulzar. As three expertises have joined hands, one can surely expect a good music from Yuvraaj. In almost all the songs, romanticism is up to the neck and the music is very serene and on hearing, one would like to fall in love. Here is a gist of the songs.
The album opens with the introductory song of Yuvraaj, played by Salman Khan. It goes as ‘Main Hoon Yuvraaj with the Fifth of Beethovan’. AR Rehman has put his soul in composing the song; he has incorporated both western and Indian beats in it to give a different touch. On would get a feel of European classical music too. It also has some dialogues in the voice of Salman Khan introducing him as Deven Yuvraaj. The musical instrument symphony is quite prominent in the song.
‘Tu Meri Dost Hain’ crooned by Shreya Ghoshal and Benny Dayal is fabulous. Obviously, it is picturised on Salman Khan and his real love Katrina Kaif. For the first time the duo will be seen at their romantic best. The music is touching and calm, no hype and not at all loud. It talks about the relationship of two people in a very harmonious manner.
The third gift of the album is ‘Shano Shano’ by bunch of singers like Sonu Nigam, Srinivas, Karthik, Timmy, Sunaina, Vivienne Pocha and Tina. It is something hatke, not like the other songs that has a tranquil feeling. It is very fast, foot tapping and too loud and mostly have western musical arrangements. Shano Shano remix version by Krishna Chetan is not like the original one. The remix version lacks in energy.
‘Tu Muskura’ by Alka Yagnik and Javed Ali is touted to be the best song of the album. Once you hear it, you will get attracted to it. It has a serene feeling that it will touch your soul. It talks about pure love. It is slow paced and the use of cello (V.R.Sekhar and Eldith Martin), guitar brings a freshness to the song. The beauty of the song enhances as Salman and Katrina grooves together.
’Zindagi’ is a sad number and can be heard in the voice of Srinivas. Ace lyricist Gulzar has put words of pain and separation in the lyrics. This one is also mediocre to hear.
On the whole, Yuvraaj is a good album indeed. Music lovers can find bliss on hearing such soft music. Audience will list Tu Muskura, Tu Meri Dost Hain in their favorite items. Worth buying the album.
