The much anticipated movie title of the year is finally out. Yash Chopra’s next is titled ‘Veer-Zaara.’
Veer-Zaara is a story of an Indian Pilot, Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan) who rescues Zaara Hayaat Khan (Preity Zinta) from a bus accident. Preity plays a Pakistani girl who comes to India to immerse her caretaker’s ashes, who has brought her up with love, in the Ganga. Her parents don’t know about this. Despite the initial quarrels, Veer and Zaara become good friends and eventually, fall in love. Veer also takes Zaara to Punjab and from there, accompanies her back to the border where they meet Zaara’s fiancé, whose role is played by Manoj Bajpai. Later, for some reason, the Pakistani police arrests Veer. He chooses to remain silent. This is when Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukherjee) comes to Veer’s rescue. Rani plays a pakistani human right activist who wants to help Veer.
What happens after that? Will Veer be able to survive this? Will Saamiya be able to help Veer in this case? Will she be able to bring Veer and Zaara together?
The film also has the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and the ever-gorgeous Hema Malini in guest roles. They play Veer’s grandparents and have a song and a scene each in the film.
The music release of Veer-Zaara on September 18th coincides with the launch of the ‘Yash Raj Music’ label. This album is sure to give music lovers a much-awaited bouquet of everlasting melodies. The renowned late Madan Mohan composed the music and the lyrics are by Javed Akhtar.
The movie will be ready to hit the theatres in November 2004.
