Ramaiya Vastavaiya

‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ is a Hindi movie which is released today on 19th July. This romantic movie is directed by famous choreographer and director Prabhudheva. The lead casts of the movie are Girish Kumar and Shruti Hassan. Girish Kumar is the son of the producer, Kumar Taurani and is making his debut with this movie. Apart from them, the other casts in the movie are Sonu Sood, Randhir Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon and Satish Shah. The movie is produced by Kumar Taurani under banner of Tips Industries Limited.

‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ is the remake of Telugu hit movie ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’ which was directed by Prabhdheva itself which in turn is highly inspired by 1989 released super hit movie ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’.

The story line is hackneyed, repetitive and has been depicted in numerous movies with slight modifications. It is a full-on romantic movie wherein the hero, Ram (Girish Kumar) is a foreign returned dude who falls for a simpleton Punjabi village girl, Sona (Shruti Hassan) who is pretty and poor. The brother of the girl (Sonu Sood) comes in picture who is extremely possessive of his sister and finally asks the hero to earn at least like him. He challenges the hero to produce grains like him in the field. The hero toils, works hard. Amidst cow dung and sweat, he receives success.

First half of the movie shows the setting in a marriage house. The hero meets the heroine, who is the best friend of hero’s cousin. Some romance is thrown here and there. Then, the rich relatives of the hero make fun of heroine’s brother, who is a poor but proud farmer. Brother then challenges the hero. Second part of the movie shows the hero struggling in heat and sweat, milking cows, picking cow dung, sleeping on straw to win heart of the heroine’s elder brother.

The movie seemed a combination of ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ and ‘Jab Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’. Sincerely, the movie has nothing new to offer. Shruti showed an average performance. Her facial expressions and dialogues did not go hand in hand. Girish does not seem to captivate audience with his performance. Well, the heart goes to Sonu Sood, who has perfected his role as a farmer and as an elder brother. Poonam Dhillon plays hero’s mother and is obsessed with money and keeps on throwing nasty looks. Randhir plays hero’s father who did not had much to offer in the movie.

Unlike ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ love symbol pigeons; this movie uses miniature cloth horse. Watch this movie for some comical dialogues, few feet tapping dance numbers and for offering your mind a complete rest.
