After  ‘Student of The Year’, Varun Dhawan in his second movie ‘Main Tera Hero’ does things that Govinda and Salman Khan did in countless David Dhawan movies in the ’90s, when the director was in top form and his films were recognised as a genre by themselves. But ‘Main Tera Hero’, with some help from his son Varun, the father-son duo just about manages to entertain viewers for a part of it with a disclaimer saying: Leave logic and sense at the door of the cinema before entering.

Done that ‘Main Tera Hero’ can make audiences recline and enjoy if there is nothing better to do.

The story talks about this idle character Seenu played by Varun Dhawan who falls in love with Sunaina played by Ileana D'Cruz, but there is a third character — a tall and hefty cop, played by Arunoday Singh who also loves Ilena and has managed to terrorise the entire college. Not any other boy can even look at Sunaina in this college, where practically nobody studies. But this hero Seenu, is probably the only student found studying.

The story then travels to a place in Bangkok, where Ayesha played by Nargis Fakhri, the daughter of a rich don, who is in love with Seenu. Ayesha gets Sunaina kidnapped and she is kept under house arrest in a huge villa in Bangkok. Seenu is seen travelling to Bangkok to free his lady love.

Then things get complicated and the rest of the film will see the resolution.

The film gets quite weary in the second half and does not flow like the pre-interval part. Too many characters appear and subplots unfold but just because they are played by such actors as Saurabh Shukla, Rajpal Yadav, Monit Pahwa, Anupam Kher and others, the film manages to reach the end without much effort.

The film has Sajid Wajid’s music score which is already a chartbuster that can help in the performance of the movie.

‘Main Tera Hero’ is the remake of the Telugu film ‘Kandireega’.

According to trade analyst Tarun Adarsh, “On the whole, MAIN TERA HERO is a wild, wacky, madcap entertainer that has the unmistakable stamp of the master of entertainers — David Dhawan.
