Luck By Chance - Movie Review
With Rock On, Farhan Akhtar has proved that he is not only one of the best directors but he is also one of the finest actors of Bollywood and now it’s the turn of his sister Zoya Akhtar to stand tall in the industry. Zoya’s directional debut Luck by Chance music is on air and is able to hold tight the interest chord of the audience on first hearing itself. Farhan’s last flick Rock On was a hit and again in this film, he will seen in the role of an actor.
Farhan has done an excellent job in Rock On and now his sister is going to show her credentials. The three musical composers Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy is basking in joy as their last film Rock On became a tremendous hit and they are again back with Luck By Chance. Being a daughter of a well known lyricist Javed Saab, Zoya did not have to convince him much and he readily agreed to write songs for his daughter. Getting him was an easy one. The songs of Luck By Chance are very trendy and it runs on both soft and fast track. Luck By Chance tells the story of the struggling actors in Bollywood, their dreams and aspirations to strike gold in the industry. There are six numbers of songs sung by different voices. Here the songs unfold.
The album opens with ‘Yeh Zindagi Bhi’ sung by Loy Mendonsa and music composer Shekhar Rajviani who is also a close friend of SEL. In the song, guitar and piano sound is more prominent. It is a soft number and almost situational. Soothing to the ear and not at all overloaded with heavy music. Liable of repeated hearing.
The second track ‘Baaware’ is totally based on Rajasthani folk. Purely traditional and takes you to the soil of Rajasthan which is rich in culture and heritage. Shankar, Ila Arun, Loy, Rajasthani Ensemble have come together for this pleasant song. It’s a treat to the ear. Lovely song and can be played repeatedly. Remix version by Midival Punditz is equally good.
'Pyar Ki Daastan' is the third track of the film crooned by Indian Idol finalist Amit Paul and singer Mahalaxmi Aiyer. It’s a romantic number that includes all the ingredients of love and togetherness. On hearing, you will definitely fall in love. Javed Akhtar golden words and SEL soulful composition has made the song more attractive and enjoyable.
The fourth track, 'Yeh Aaj Kya Ho Gaya' has freshness in composition and singing. Versatile singer Sunidhi Chauhan has again proved her versatility in singing any type of songs and showed the world that it is wrong to typecast her. On hearing, you too will feel like crooning and swinging. Total rejuvenating and makes you fall in love with life once again.
For the fifth track 'Sapno Se Bhare Naina', Shankar took hold of the mike. It is one of the best tracks of the album. The lyric are fabulous and has all the zeal to make to the chartbuster. It will be listened for many years to come. If the album has a promising sale then maximum credit will go to this song.
It closes with 'O Rahi Re' by Shankar. It is a semi-classical number. Guitar tune is much prominent and is quite entertaining. The song is awesome. A good number to play and hear repeated number of times.
On the whole, the music of Luck By Chance is very soothing and has all the elements of good music. Full credit goes to lyricist Javed Akhtar and music composers Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. The music of Luck By chance is a wonderful gift of the New Year. The album is worth buying. Go and immediately grab the CD.
