Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl - Movie Review
Director Maneesh Sharma has wooed one and all with his last outing ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ with Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh. Their incredible chemistry in BBB has taken the audience with storm. Now the biggest question is whether he has been able to provide the audience with the same doses of entertainment or it fall flat.
Well, ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ is a rom-com movie from Yash Raj flick. It has all the charm to attract the audience but could not totally win the heart of the cine-goes. The chemistry between Ranveer and Anushka were missing. They tried to bring out the desired effect but unfortunately failed. But the other departments deserves accolades like Salim and Sulaiman's foot-tapping music, catchy storyline, exotic locations, Habib Faisal's witty one-liners, Aseem Mishra's camera work. Unfortunately, Maneesh Sharma failed to meet up the expectation of the audience.
The story is well promoted, Priyanka Chopra’s cousin sister Parineeti Chopra was very much talked about. Ranveer killer look made headlines but still the film lacks in execution and presentation.
Ladies vs Ricky Bahl is a story about charming fun-loving guy Ricky Bahl who cheats on girls to meet his desire and end up meeting his perfect girl. The girls who fell in his trap were Dimple, Aditi and Dipannita. For Delhi student Dimple Chaddha (Parineeti Chopra), he is a fitness trainer. Ricky plays shy Iqbal Khan for Lucknow widow Saira Rashid (Aditi Sharma) and he acted as art dealer Deven Shah for successful, independent career woman Raina Parulekar (Dipannita Sharma). When truth came into forefront, they all fell cheated and the trio reconcile to discover the truth. They made a plan to get back their money. Unknown Ricky one fine day meets his perfect match Ishika Desai (Anushka Sharma).
The film starts off beautifully, grip the audience to the seat, post-interval slows down and end is predictable.
Speaking about performances, the film revolves around Ranveer Singh. He is the main protagonist and he rules with his awestruck screen presence and style. He has build up his muscles for the film and looked different. All his female leads played their part well. New comer Parineeti Chopra was charming and quite humorous. Aditi Sharma too made her presence felt. Dipannita Sharma was also good. Anushka Sharma as usual lively and natural.
In the nutshell, despite an engaging script, the movie could not impress the audience. It is absorbing but some stages, it seems dull. It misses the flavor of ‘Band Baaja Baraat’. But not a bad watch.
