Kaminey - Movie Review

Vishal Bharadwaj is not only known for his super hit films but also known for composing captivating music. Vishal has created a niche in the field of music and his class of music is always regarded high standard. To direct a film and composing music simultaneously requires lots of talent and the director, music composer, scriptwriter Vishal Bharadwaj has got an inherit talent in him. His music is always deviated from the normal and remains long in one’s mind. Even new music cannot replace his old renditions.

‘Beedi Jalaile' and 'Naina Thag Lenge' are Vishal’s evergreen music which is crooned by the music lovers even today. In ‘Kaminey’ too, Vishal tried to implement the same josh factor and he succeeded in bringing out an ear-soothing music with every element of thrill and fun.  There are altogether six original songs and two remixes. Every song is situational and sounds exceptional. Gulzar Saab’s lyrics and Vishal Bharadwaj’s music has done a wonderful job.

The album opens with ‘Dhan Te Nan’ by Sukhwinder Singh and Vishal Dadlani. The song is high on instrumentation, very energetic and has a rock touch. It will be surely loved by the music lovers and will definitely hit the chartbuster. Gulzar saab’s lyrics is phenomenon. The songs won’t let your expectation down and will make a mark in the days to come. Highly recommended in terms of music and lyrics.

It’s remix version sounds dull and scores low than the original.

The second track opens with ‘Thode Bheege’ by Mohit Chauhan. It speaks about everlasting love. As the song proceeds forward, it will take your breathe. It has a freshness in tune and wordings. Western arrangements are more prominent here.

The third track 'Raat Ke Dhai Baje' is a fusion of two voices Rekha Bharadwaj and Sunidhi Chauhan. It is on the female protagonist Priyanka Chopra. The voice behind the male protagonist is Suresh Wadkar and Kunal Ganjawala. The song is a blend of western and Indian music. It is a foot-tapping number, very energetic and fast tracked. It is also a fusion of rap, pop and classical music.

The fourth track ‘Fatak’ is a masterpiece, it is like jugal bandi, one cutting words of the other, highly instrumented, rich in lyrics and for that credit should again go to Gulzar. Sukhwinder Singh & Kailash Kher sung exceptionally well. The song will contribute to the success of the film. It has also a touch of folk flavor.

The title track ‘Kaminey’ has been crooned by Vishal Bharadwaj himself. It starts off softly but picked up momentum after a little duration. Highly instrumented and credit should go to both Vishal and Gulzar saab for making a non-poetic piece poetic. The title track is equally good and liable to hear again and again.

The last track ‘Go Charlie Go’ which is an extension of ‘Dhan Te Nan’ is an instrumental track high on note. The two minutes rendition composed by Vishal Bharadwaj is a unique piece.

In the nutshell, the music of ‘Kaminey’ scores high in every department. The combination of Vishal Bharadwaj and Gulzar Saab has done the needful. Highly recommended and worth buying and hearing the album. Vishal Bharadwaj has again proved his prowess.
