Kaisey Kahein - Movie Review

Kaisey Kahein has an interesting concept about the romance of a couple in a metro with career issues between the two dominating the plot. Unfortunately the script and screenplay have not been handled efficiently and leads to the film being below average. The star cast too depicts debutants who do not manage to give credible performances and hence the film suffers. The execution by director Mohit Hussein too is unconvincing and he is unable to depict the concept of chaos between this career minded couple with ease. There are just a few scenes which are handled well but the overall picture still remains below average.

The film has been directed and written by Mohit Hussein and stars debutants Rajveer Dutt and Neha Jhulka. The film belongs to the social drama and the music has been composed by Pritam.

Rajveer and Neha the lead couple have already decided the course of their future. Both are ambitious and dedicated to building their careers. However love beckons and they accept this too. But the couple decide to pursue their careers too alongside their relationship. Neha is pursuing a career in broadcast journalism; she works extremely hard and loves her job. Rajveer too wants fame and money and works very hard to reach the top in his banking career. Meanwhile the two also decide to get engaged, however living in a busy metro with the pressures of their hard hitting jobs takes a toll on them and often they end up facing the daily nitty gritties of a complicated life in a metro. The squabbles and misunderstandings continue to increase but the couple still tries to deal with the difficulties.

Rajveer tries to compromise on several of the problems that they face. However what turns out to be the last straw that tears the couple apart is their careers. Neha gets a promotion and has to move to Mumbai; however she is reluctant to leave Rajveer. However due to some miscommunication she leaves and moves to Mumbai. The couple at first try to maintain their long distance relationship but gradually time and pressures take a toll on their relationship.

The concept of an urban couple dealing with their relationship and career at the same time is interesting but nonetheless caters to a niche audience of the multiplexes. Audiences may identify with some of the conflicting scenes where the couple faces the typical problems faced in a relationship. However director Mohit does not go into the depth of the problems but merely touches the surface of these issues and then moves on. He is also unable to do justice to the concept onscreen as the writing is not up to the mark. Also the time leaps that take place several times in the film serves in creating confusion. Mohit Hussein’s execution is not adequate as it fails on certain levels like the hurried romance that takes place between the two leads, the misunderstandings are also exaggerated at times, the girl seems uncompromising etc. However the end is quite different and has an interesting twist.

The music of the film is just plain average; the item song by Yana is fare. The cinematography is fine with some locales in the UK forming the background, but sometimes it has a very artificial look to it. The dialogues are average but the performances are below satisfactory. Rajveer neither has the look nor is he able to deliver an able performance. He overacts and hams very often. Neha Jhulka looks pretty but her performance too leaves much to be desired. The rest of the cast too does not leave any lasting impressions.

Overall Kaisey Kahein has a decent concept but the script and screenplay are what takes the film lower. The execution too is lackluster and performances are not up to the mark. The target audience is also limited to a niche segment and moreover the publicity for the film did not have much hype. At the box-office the film may not get much of a response. A below average film.
