Finally, this Friday Madhur Bhandarkar’s most ambitious project ‘Heroine’ saw the light of the day. All the hype and hoopla surrounding the film for so almost an year has come to an end and ‘Heroine’ is up for the audience who is the main decider whether the film truly deserves applause and credit.

Madhur Bhandarkar has created a separate niche for himself. His films based on real life incident like ‘Chandni Bar’, ‘Satta’, ‘Corporate’, and ‘Page 3’, ‘Fashion’ has given him a separate status. His movies are always a hot favorite for the cine-goers. So when he declared his dream project ‘Heroine’ two years back, hopes generated and as the day drew nearer, the excitement to watch the highly promoted film grown stronger.

Kareena Kapoor is the main attraction of ‘Heroine’. It is also speculated that Bebo has given a national award winning performance and she is going to bag many awards for ‘Heroine’. This is the first time Kareena went all out to promote her film so extensively. Madhur also said once that he is too sure for the movie’s faith at the box-office.

‘Heroine’ gives us an insight of the glitz glamour, name and fame of the film industry, sneak peek into make-up room, vanity van and basically what goes in the showbiz. It is true that Madhur is inspired by the real life incident and his movie ‘Heroine’ also leaves an imprint of the same.

During her hay days, successful and box-office queen Mahi Arora (Kareena Kapoor) had her world at the feet. Movies, parties, award has been a regular business for her. Success has become a habit for her but Mahi’s name and fame was very short lived and success sweeps below her feet suddenly. Mahi wanted to marry and settle down with her boyfriend Aryan Khanna (Arjun Rampal). She became over emotional about her boyfriend which leads to her downfall.

When she opened her eyes, she found that she has lost everything. Mahi decided to regain her lost glory but her revert journey was full of thorns.

Bhandarkar always received good remarks for his realistic outlook and ‘Heroine’ was not exception. His approach was almost similar and it’s like new wine served in an old bottle. Audience knew his approach and as if they have formed a pre-notion as what it’s going to be. Audience more or less has an idea what actually happens behind the camera and hence the film stands no exceptional for them.

The music of ‘Heroine’ fail to impress the music-goers. Screenplay was bit weak. Editing could be little better.

Speaking about performances, Kareena is the soul of the movie and she performed like a true heroine. Emotions were high and she looked stupendous. Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda had a little scope since it is women oriented movie and failed to make a mark.

In the nutshell, ‘Heroine’ is a monotonous movie. It has the less driving force but an entertaining movie.
